Sanwa Shutter Adopts IIJ's Industrial IoT Secure Remote Management for Shutter Remote Control System

Today, we announce that Sanwa Shutter Co., Ltd. (hereinafter 'Sanwa Shutter') has adopted our Industrial IoT Secure Remote Management (hereinafter 'IIoT-SRM') solution for its IoT management service 'RemoSmaPro (Remo Sma Pro),' which begins nationwide rollout today.

This adoption was driven by IIoT-SRM's ability to provide a comprehensive suite of IoT platform functions in an integrated manner, as well as its flexibility to be retrofitted to existing equipment. Through the provision of IIoT-SRM, we will support Sanwa Shutter in achieving efficient and high-quality operations of shutter equipment via 'RemoSmaPro.'

Background and Benefits of Implementation

As a comprehensive building materials manufacturer with one of the largest market shares in Japan, Sanwa Shutter supplies shutters for a wide range of facilities including commercial complexes and factories. In recent years, to enhance added value through labor-saving measures and improved operational efficiency, IIJ has collaborated with Sanwa Shutter on the joint development of IoT-enabled shutters.

Sanwa Shutter has initiated the development of a system that leverages IoT for remote management, real-time visualization, and data analysis. The goal is to enable remote opening and closing of electric shutters currently operated manually on-site at commercial facilities and station buildings, and to monitor the operational status of high-speed sheet shutters used at openings in factories and distribution warehouses.

For this development, IIJ's IIoT-SRM was selected due to its ability to comprehensively provide all necessary IoT platform components—from IoT gateway devices and mobile connectivity to cloud platforms for data collection and analysis—its retrofitting capability for existing equipment, and the support provided by IIJ in application development and operations.

By utilizing IIoT-SRM's remote management and data storage functions, the implementation enables significant reduction in on-site labor costs for opening, closing, and confirming electric shutters. In the event of malfunctions, remote status checks improve maintenance efficiency, and usage history visualization supports predictive maintenance. For high-speed sheet shutters, monitoring open states helps prevent environmental degradation such as dust and insect intrusion due to prolonged opening, and contributes to energy cost reduction by maintaining air conditioning efficiency.
