We are pleased to announce that starting July 1, we will offer a new menu "Cloud" for our overseas firewall management service "IIJ Firewall Management Service (IFMS)", providing virtual firewalls on the cloud. "IFMS Cloud" provides firewalls as a fully managed cloud service (FWaaS), enabling security enhancement without modifying equipment configuration at the site. Furthermore, by connecting with our closed network service "IIJ Private Backbone Service (PBB)", it enables seamless and secure connections between overseas sites and domestic environments. This service will first launch in Asia and then gradually expand to other regions.
Background In recent years, with the spread of security models such as SSE (Security Service Edge) and SASE (※1), the trend of using security functions in the cloud has accelerated. On the other hand, overseas sites face challenges in securing specialized security personnel and building operational structures, leading to risks and burdens associated with firewall operations. Since 2020, we have been providing IFMS, adapted from our domestically proven "IIJ Managed Firewall Service" for Japanese companies' overseas sites, with engineers from IIJ Group's overseas subsidiaries supporting everything from firewall device configuration to operational monitoring, maintenance, and recovery. Leveraging years of operational experience and know-how, we are now launching "IFMS Cloud" as a full-managed cloud firewall service. (※1) SSE (Security Service Edge): A concept that combines SWG (Secure Web Gateway), ZTNA (Zero Trust Network Access), CASB/DLP (Cloud Access Security Broker / Data Loss Prevention), FWaaS, RBI (Remote Browser Isolation), etc., to provide a single security service. SASE (Secure Access Service Edge): A concept that integrates security and networking, centrally controlling and managing them on the cloud to realize secure access.
Features of "IFMS Cloud" - Security enhancement without site burden: Strengthen security by using advanced firewall functions on the cloud without installing firewall equipment or changing network configuration at the site. - Usable as an international WAN via connection with PBB: By connecting with our PBB, it can be used as an international WAN securely connecting overseas and domestic sites. - Reduced operational load through full-managed service: Since we handle all operations including initial setup, configuration changes, monitoring, and fault response, there is no need for operation at overseas sites.
Support System IIJ Global Support Center (Malaysia) provides 24/7 full-managed support for firewall monitoring and operations, as well as various requests such as configuration changes, in Japanese and English.
Reference Pricing Initial fee: 294,000 yen ~ Monthly fee: 115,000 yen ~ (※) Reference price for "Basic (10Mbps)" plan. (※) All prices are exclusive of tax.
