(*1) This project involves the construction of a road and rail combined suspension bridge across the strait between mainland Italy (Calabria region) and Sicily (Sicily autonomous region), along with approach roads and railways on both sides. The construction period is expected to be just over 7 years after commencement. Upon completion, it will have a central span of 3,300m, significantly surpassing the current world's longest, the Çanakkale 1915 Bridge in western Turkey (central span: 2,023m), making it the world's longest suspension bridge. With a main tower height of 399m, it will also be the world's tallest.
