Idemitsu Kosan Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President and Representative Director: Noriaki Sakai; hereinafter "Idemitsu Kosan") will sequentially begin supplying renewable energy electricity from Kochi Prefecture to 30 of its affiliated service stations, "apollostation," in four Shikoku prefectures, operated by Idemitsu Retail Sales Co., Ltd. Hyogo Shikoku Company (Head Office: Kobe City, Hyogo Prefecture; Company President: Toshiaki Yoshikawa), starting July 1st, using the 100% renewable energy electricity menu "Premium Green Plus*1".
This initiative will establish a "local production for local consumption model" where electricity and environmental value generated within the region are consumed locally, by utilizing renewable energy electricity from biomass power generation using unused wood from Kochi Prefecture and its environmental value*2, provided by Tosa Green Power Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Kochi City, Kochi Prefecture; President: Tadashi Shigetoh; hereinafter "Tosa Green Power"), in which Idemitsu Kosan has a 50% stake. This initiative is expected to reduce CO2 emissions by approximately 465 tons annually*3.
*1 Premium Green Plus: An electricity plan that supplies 100% CO2-free electricity by combining renewable energy electricity, including the FIT (Feed-in Tariff) system, with non-fossil certificates (designated as renewable energy).
*2 Environmental Value: Indicates the added value of electricity generated from renewable energy, which is "CO2 emission-free."
*3 Annual CO2 Emission Reduction of 465 tons: The amount that approximately 33,000 cedar trees can absorb in one year.
Business Scheme
The model of consuming electricity locally through the utilization of renewable energy is expected to contribute not only to energy security but also to the revitalization of the regional economy and the reduction of environmental impact.
Tosa Green Power transitioned to the FIP (Feed-in Premium) system*4 in June 2026, enabling it to freely utilize the electricity it generates and its environmental value. This has enabled the realization of "local production for local consumption" of energy and environmental value by supplying electricity generated from unused wood in Kochi Prefecture to apollostation in four Shikoku prefectures, and by utilizing the environmental value linked to that electricity.
Going forward, in addition to the 30 apollostation locations in the four Shikoku prefectures, we are considering expanding this initiative to other businesses.
Idemitsu Kosan will use this initiative as a starting point to expand its renewable energy local production for local consumption model utilizing power sources it owns or has invested in. Furthermore, through the supply of renewable energy electricity and the provision of environmental value, we will promote decarbonization initiatives in collaboration with local communities and contribute to the realization of a sustainable society.
*4 FIP (Feed-in Premium) System: A system where a certain premium (subsidy amount) is added to the market sales price of electricity generated from renewable energy. It is a mechanism that allows power producers to utilize both electricity and environmental value.
