Ideer Human Support Service Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: Mariko Ukiyo; hereinafter "Ideer Human Support Service") announces that Cocorogoto Cafe, which it operates, has launched an "O-nayami Concierge" (Trouble Concierge) service, allowing customers to talk freely.

Background and Purpose

In modern society, the number of people who harbor worries without anyone to consult is increasing. Recent surveys show that over 70% of people have experienced not being able to consult anyone about their problems, indicating a very high demand for someone to listen. On the other hand, counseling is often perceived as having a "high barrier to entry" and is not easily utilized in daily life.

Furthermore, communication in workplaces and homes has become sparse due to reasons such as difficulty speaking one's true feelings or fear of being denied. In this social context, the act of "listening" is gaining attention. People can gain a sense of security simply by being listened to, allowing them to organize their thoughts and regain the strength to move forward.

Therefore, Cocorogoto Cafe, created by psychological counselors, believes it is important to provide a "safe place to talk" that is needed in society today, within an everyday setting. We are pleased to announce the launch of a service with "O-nayami Concierges" permanently stationed, serving as an accessible entry point for mental care. We will continue to provide a space where customers can feel at ease as a "place for the heart."

What is an O-nayami Concierge?

Talking has very positive effects on mental health, such as calming the mind, organizing feelings, and gaining the courage to take action. For this to happen, a "listening style" that allows people to speak with confidence is crucial. Cocorogoto Cafe's O-nayami Concierges are mental health professionals who hold psychological counselor qualifications and have undergone training in "listening." Through the act of "listening," we assist in supporting someone's life.

What is "Cocorogoto Cafe"?

Cocorogoto Cafe

Planned by the Japan Federation of Psychological Professions (Zen-Shin-Ren) as a place where anyone can easily receive counseling and therapy, just like having tea at a cafe. In February 2014, "Cocorogoto Cafe," a cafe with psychological counselors, opened under the operation of Ideer Human Support Service Co., Ltd. Psychological counselors devised four-color food menus and "Cocorotalk & Counseling" to energize mind and body, receiving many orders from businessmen like "I'd like an iced coffee and 60 minutes of counseling."

From May 2024, it will reopen in Aoyama as "Cocorogoto Cafe," a fruit tea and art therapy shop, also serving as an employment opportunity for Ukrainian evacuees. With flowers, carefully selected tableware, body- and mind-friendly fruit teas, and low-sugar-focused menus, it is utilized as a comforting place for visitors. Popular Cocorotalks, which apply art therapy, include "Talk with Miniatures," a therapy applying sandplay therapy (a type of psychotherapy), and "Talk with Crayons," applying painting therapy.
