Icom Inc. (Hirano-ku, Osaka; Hiroshi Nakaoka, President and Representative Director; Tokyo Stock Exchange Prime) is pleased to report that it has completed the implementation of the enhanced product authentication system announced on September 24, 2024, in our notice regarding "Strengthening Countermeasures Against Counterfeit Products." This update allows customers to verify the authenticity of their purchased products with greater certainty.

Details of the Measures We have discontinued the use of hologram stickers as a means of verifying the authenticity of target products and have consolidated the process into a more reliable QR code authentication system. This has been applied to all target products shipped from October 2025 onwards, and we are reporting this now that we have confirmed stable operation.

About the QR Code Authentication System You can access our authentication website by scanning the QR code printed on the serial number label affixed to the back of the product using a smartphone or similar device.

If the product is genuine, the system will confirm its authenticity and display the number of times that specific QR code has accessed the authentication site, as well as the date and time of the last access. With this mechanism, even if a genuine QR code is copied and used on a counterfeit product, the unusually high number of access attempts will indicate that the product is a counterfeit.

Please note that cases of websites imitating our authentication site have been identified. Always ensure that the URL of the site you have accessed is the official one (addresses starting with https://genuine.icom.co.jp/).

Regarding Market Inventory with Hologram Stickers Products with the traditional hologram stickers are still circulating as market inventory. These are genuine Icom products. For the time being, products with the new authentication system and conventional products will coexist in the market, but you can use any product purchased from an authorized dealer with confidence. For more details regarding hologram stickers, please visit the following website:

How to Check Target Products You can check which products are equipped with the new authentication system and their corresponding serial numbers on the special page below:

*For some conventional models that support the QR code authentication system, there are items in circulation that have both a QR code and a hologram sticker. Like other models, products that can be authenticated via the QR code are genuine. Please check the list posted at the URL above for the applicable models.

Products currently considered to have a low risk of counterfeiting are not subject to the above measures.

Furthermore, we maintain strict management regarding the traceability of products throughout the manufacturing and distribution processes, just as we do for the target products.

Other Measures To raise awareness among more users regarding the existence of counterfeit products, we are including flyers in the packaging of target products that explain the above measures in English, Chinese, Thai, and Indonesian. We will also actively include similar information in promotional materials such as catalogs for supported products.

We strongly urge you to continue purchasing our radio equipment through our authorized dealers.
