The hologram seal, previously used as a means of verifying the authenticity of target products, has been abolished and integrated into a more reliable QR code authentication system. This will be applied to all target products shipped from October 2025 onwards, and we are pleased to report that stable operation has been confirmed.
## About the QR Code Authentication System
By scanning the QR code printed on the serial seal affixed to the back of the product with a smartphone or similar device, customers can access our authentication website.
If the product is genuine, the website will display that it is genuine, the number of times the same QR code has been accessed, and the last access date and time. This mechanism allows customers to confirm if a product is counterfeit, even if a genuine QR code is copied and used on a counterfeit product, as an unnaturally large number of access attempts will be displayed.
Please note that cases of imitation authentication websites have also been confirmed. Always ensure that the URL of the accessed site is legitimate (an address starting with https://genuine.icom.co.jp/).
## Regarding Market Inventory Products with Hologram Seals
Products with traditional hologram seals will continue to circulate as market inventory. These are genuine Icom products. For the time being, products with the new authentication system and conventional products will coexist in the market, but all products purchased from authorized dealers can be used with peace of mind.
