Ichini Inc. (CEO: Taku Takahata, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo), which operates Senkyo.com, launched the "Higashimatsuyama Mayoral Election 2026 Voting Matcher" (https://votematches.go2senkyo.com/higashimatsuyama_mayor_2026/) on July 6th.

The "Higashimatsuyama Mayoral Election 2026 Voting Matcher" is a service that allows users to select their preferred candidate for the Higashimatsuyama mayoral election, which will be announced on July 5th and voted on July 12th. By answering questions about policies directly related to our lives, users can measure their compatibility with candidates whose views are close to their own. We hope this will be useful as reference information when choosing where to cast your vote.

Voting Matcher Overview

This time, we have prepared 17 questions. Senkyo.com designed the questions, conducted surveys with candidates, and created the service based on their responses. The questions cover a wide range of fields, including the revitalization of the municipal hospital, urban planning, and the nature of city administration under a new mayor, which are considered key issues in this mayoral election. To provide users with material for their judgment, each question includes an "explanation," "merits," and "demerits."

Both users and candidates answer the questions using a 5-point scale (Agree, Somewhat Agree, Neutral, Somewhat Disagree, Disagree), and from these responses, we measure the degree of alignment in policy views.

What is a Voting Matcher?

Senkyo.com's "Voting Matcher" is implemented not only for general elections but also for local elections such as gubernatorial and mayoral elections. The number of uses exceeded 4 million during the 2025 Upper House election, and the cumulative number of uses for voting matchers has surpassed 10 million.

A voting matcher is an online tool that allows users to find out which political parties or candidates share their views by answering questions on election issues with five options ranging from agreement to disagreement. The degree of matching is calculated using the "distance" between the candidate's answers and the user's choices. For example, if a user selects "Agree" for a question, and Candidate A selects "Agree" while Candidate B selects "Somewhat Agree," Candidate A will receive a higher matching score than Candidate B because their answers are closer.

Senkyo.com aims to assist voters by conveying election information in an easy-to-understand manner, thereby increasing voter turnout. We hope to help many voters cast their ballots and look forward to your continued support for our voting matchers!
