April 2026 Opinion Poll: Takaichi Cabinet Approval Rating 55.9% (Phone Survey), Public Opinion on Budget Deliberation and "Bachelor Tax"

On April 11-12, 2026, Senkyo.com and JX Tsushinsha jointly conducted a hybrid opinion poll across Japan, targeting individuals aged 18 and older. The survey yielded 1012 valid responses from phone interviews and 1387 from internet surveys. Key findings included a Takaichi Cabinet approval rating of 55.9% based on phone responses. Other topics explored were political party support, voting intentions for the next House of Councillors proportional representation election, and public views on the significant reduction in the 2026 fiscal year budget deliberation time. Opinions were also collected regarding the establishment of a "national flag desecration crime" to punish acts of insulting the Japanese flag, and the "child-rearing support fund," which began collection in April as an additional charge to public health insurance premiums, often referred to as a "bachelor tax." Ichi-ni Inc., the operator of Senkyo.com, a political and election portal with approximately 41 million users, facilitated this survey.
