The iCD Association (iCDA, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, Chairman: Osamu Kin) and the Japanese Society for Artificial Intelligence (JSAI, Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo, President: Satoshi Kurihara) have jointly developed and publicly released the 'AI Map β Extended Tutorial' as a guide to support the conceptualization required for the introduction and application of AI, whose evolution and diversification are accelerating.
Currently, artificial intelligence technologies, including generative AI, are undergoing astonishing advancements, transcending the mere framework of technology to become a major wave fundamentally changing the nature of society. The iCDA and JSAI aim for AI to be promptly, correctly, and accurately implemented in society and business activities during this transformative period. To achieve this, it is essential not only to explore technology but also to show a path for 'which technology should be applied how' to specific challenges in real society and business. This tutorial was developed to serve as a bridge connecting advanced academic knowledge with practical tasks, thereby making AI implementation more reliable. Meanwhile, in preparation for these circumstances, our association has been working to expand the iCD Task Dictionary/Skill Dictionary and to collaborate with SFIA and the Digital Skill Standard (DSS-P).
Background and Challenges AI is now an indispensable presence in society and business. Due to the rapid pace of its evolution, 'conceptualization,' which involves combining optimal elemental technologies for intended uses, has become a critical and highly difficult task. The 'AI Task' formulated by the iCDA is effective as a 'template' showing a series of tasks and procedures related to projects from conceptualization to PoC preparation and implementation required for AI adoption, but it faced the following challenges:
- Addressing insufficient AI development experience: For those inexperienced or with limited experience in the series of practical processes for AI implementation, the AI Task alone lacks concrete 'methods of consideration,' clarity, and tangible feel for promoting operations and addressing difficulties. - Lack of methodology required for ideation: The AI Task alone is insufficient for exploring optimal technologies and generating ideas from scratch (ideation).
To resolve these challenges, it was deemed necessary to combine the use of JSAI's 'AI Map' and iCDA's 'AI Task.' To this end, the iCDA and JSAI have collaborated since fiscal year 2022 to compile the 'AI Map β Extended Tutorial' as a guidebook specifically describing how AI personnel can utilize the AI Map published by JSAI when carrying out grand design formulation work defined in the 'AI Task.'
About the AI Map β Extended Tutorial During the study conducted by both organizations, which began in fiscal year 2022, the 'AI Map β Extended Tutorial' was developed and released as a guide to solve the challenges faced by practitioners in AI adoption projects using the 'AI Map (version: AI Map β2.0).'
- Main content: It explains methods for linking the tools of JSAI's 'AI Map' (My Problem Sheet, Problem Cards, Problem Relationship Map, etc.) with 'Grand Design Formulation,' one of the processes covered by the iCDA's 'AI Task.' - Public URL: https://www.ai-gakkai.or.jp/aimap/
Future Developments Moving forward, we plan to consider briefing sessions for this tutorial and training workshops to develop human resources capable of utilizing the AI Map in practice. Both organizations will continue to collaborate to further advance the social implementation and business utilization of AI.
