Event Overview
MeDiet Japan is a project launched in 2021 by the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Japan (ICCJ).
Initially started with the aim of promoting the Mediterranean diet, it has now evolved into a platform that comprehensively proposes "health," "well-being," and "sustainable lifestyles."
The international symposium to be held in Tokyo in October 2026 will focus on Italy and Sardinia, and will foster global discussions on the theme of "healthy longevity."
Sardinia is known as one of the world's few "Blue Zones" (regions with a high concentration of centenarians). The secret to their longevity lies not only in their diet but also in their daily lifestyle, interpersonal connections, and engagement with the local community.
At this symposium, world-class experts representing fields such as nutrition, lifestyle medicine, geriatrics and gerontology (aging science), biotechnology, genetics, sports science, and social science will gather, centered around the Italian-Sardinian longevity model. Furthermore, through comparison and dialogue with longevity models from other parts of the world, including Okinawa, a longevity region in Japan, we will explore "the secrets to living a long and healthy life."
Event Philosophy
The "Me" in MeDiet means "myself."
It is the origin of MeDiet that each individual becomes the protagonist of their own health and re-examines their own diet and lifestyle.
In addition to the food culture centered on the Mediterranean diet inherited in Italy and Sardinia, there is an approach that achieves well-being from both physical and mental aspects. Numerous studies have shown that these approaches lead to the prevention of lifestyle-related diseases, extension of healthy life expectancy, and a rich life with a balanced mind and body.
However, these insights are not yet fully practiced in daily life.
MeDiet Japan aims to contribute to the creation of a healthier and richer society by bringing together experts from diverse fields such as researchers, doctors, athletes, and chefs to share the latest knowledge and practical examples, thereby disseminating concrete tips useful for people's lives.
