Osaka Gas Co., Ltd. (President and CEO: Masataka Fujiwara, hereinafter 'Osaka Gas'), OGIS Research Institute Co., Ltd. (President: Kazuhiko Yoshimura), and IBM Japan, Ltd. (President: Akio Yamaguchi, hereinafter 'IBM Japan') have signed a co-creation partnership agreement to begin discussions aimed at achieving 'AI-driven next-generation IT system transformation,' which will serve as a robust foundation for accelerating the digital transformation (DX) of the Daigas Group and contributing to solving the challenges of a rapidly changing society.

Under this co-creation partnership, the three companies will leverage the Daigas Group's accumulated energy business know-how and experience in IT system development and operations, combined with IBM Japan's advanced technologies and case studies, particularly in AI, to enhance value for customers through cutting-edge digital technologies and further strengthen the stable business infrastructure as an infrastructure provider. As a first step toward realization, the three companies will proceed with discussions and trials in the following areas:

A: Initiatives to enhance value provided to customers

AI implementation and system renovations to enhance customer value

In order to respond more quickly and accurately to increasingly sophisticated customer needs, the scope of application of the latest technologies such as AI agents will be expanded, and renovations of existing systems will be promoted. To achieve this, we will leverage IBM Japan's AI technology and expertise in modernizing existing systems (Note 1).

B: Initiatives to further strengthen the stable business infrastructure

Advanced system development and operations using AI

By utilizing AI-driven development platforms (Note 2), we aim to achieve further labor savings and shorten project timelines compared to current development methods. Additionally, in system operations, by incorporating work automation AI and labor-saving tools along with existing operational know-how, we aim to further improve operational efficiency and accuracy.

Advanced security measures

As cyber security risks increase due to active attacks on system vulnerabilities, we will promote further sophistication of response policies against cyberattacks that misuse AI.

C: Initiatives to further accelerate A and B

Developing advanced DX talent through personnel exchange

By leveraging the capacity freed up through initiatives A and B, we aim to cultivate and deploy Daigas Group personnel capable of driving strategic areas such as AI, modernization, and security through mutual exchange, thereby generating higher added value.

Furthermore, through this initiative, IBM Japan aims to accumulate knowledge and know-how in the energy industry and develop solutions to further advance the industry.

The three companies have already swiftly established multiple specialized study teams under this partnership and are proceeding with specific technical verifications and roadmap formulation in each area. The plan is to further expand and accelerate the application of AI to specific systems and operations by the end of fiscal 2026, solidifying the Daigas Group's digital transformation.

Note 1: Rebuilding existing systems that have been used for many years using the latest technologies and products in line with company needs and changes in the external environment.

Note 2: A foundation that pre-integrates tools, environments, and procedures necessary for system development, incorporating AI support and automation functions at each process.
