Background and i-plug's Perspective
In recent years, job hunting in Japan has been accelerating in timing. While this has led students to become aware of 'society' at an earlier stage, it has also intensified their focus on 'securing job offers' from the outset, often resulting in an overemphasis on mastering job-hunting techniques such as interview preparation and document writing. Under these circumstances, i-plug is concerned that an increasing number of students may begin their job-hunting activities without sufficient opportunities for 'self-analysis' or career reflection.
Against this backdrop, i-plug launched its new service 'OfferBox mirai' on June 1. This service is neither designed to promote early 'job-hunting preparation' nor to accelerate the trend of early recruitment. Instead, it is a self-exploratory career support service targeted at first- and second-year university students.
With the launch of 'OfferBox mirai,' the company is now launching this project.
※ OfferBox mirai Press Release
The first and second years of university are a period when students can encounter diverse values and experiences, broadly exploring their potential. In fact, according to a survey conducted by i-plug in May 2026 (※), 92.6% of students who participated in career events not aimed at job hunting during their first or second year reported that it 'became a trigger for thinking about their careers.' Furthermore, compared to events attended during the intensive job-hunting period, 78.4% responded they were able to 'participate with a relaxed mindset,' and 65.4% said they could 'easily challenge events in unfamiliar fields or industries.'
※ i-plug Inc. Survey: 'Survey on Career Events for First- and Second-Year University Students' (conducted May 2026)
These results indicate that event participation during the first and second university years involves lower psychological barriers and is a period conducive to purely broadening career perspectives. However, creating such opportunities to expand career possibilities for first- and second-year students cannot be achieved by i-plug alone; it is essential that society as a whole supports students' challenges.
Therefore, i-plug has launched this project in collaboration with numerous companies, universities, and other organizations, aiming to provide and promote opportunities for students to explore and expand their career perspectives. Furthermore, through this project, the company aims to shift corporate and societal mindsets from 'early contact = screening and securing talent' to 'early contact = providing opportunities for students to think about their careers.'
<Participation>
Participation in this project is free of charge. Participating professionals are expected to co-create opportunities to support students' careers alongside i-plug, such as speaking at company-hosted seminars or jointly developing career education programs.
