【Hokkaido, Niseko】— Park Hyatt Niseko HANAZONO, a luxury mountain resort nestled in a prime location with panoramic views of the majestic Mount Yotei and Niseko Annupuri, is promoting sustainable resort operations centered on the protection of Niseko's magnificent natural environment and contribution to the local community. To balance a luxurious stay experience with reduced environmental impact, the resort is continuously pursuing the ideal form of a mountain resort for future generations through concrete actions such as eliminating plastics in guest rooms, supporting circular agriculture, and conserving biodiversity. This initiative is a renewed communication of the hotel's commitment to sustainability, timed with Earth Day on April 22nd and Earth Month.

1. Resource Protection through Technology and Operational Improvements 50% Reduction in Food Waste: By introducing AI solutions "Lumitics" and "HiChef," the resort meticulously analyzes waste from the production process and buffets. A 50% reduction compared to the previous year was achieved in 2024. The goal is to achieve further reductions (maintaining a 30% reduction from 2023 levels) by the end of 2025. Thorough Water Conservation Measures: In the first quarter of 2025, a 5% reduction in water usage was achieved by adjusting water pressure in back-office areas and installing water-saving signs. Additionally, in the cooking process, thawing ingredients has been changed from "running water" to "inside the refrigerator," thoroughly eliminating unnecessary water use. Optimizing Energy Efficiency: In addition to adopting LED lighting throughout the entire facility, including art installations, complete lights-out is enforced in unoccupied rooms. Regular energy audits are conducted, and research for decarbonization is ongoing.

2. Guest Room Amenities and "Plastic-Free" Plastic-Free Guest Rooms: Plastic bottled beverages have been abolished, and glass bottles are used exclusively. Wooden amenities such as toothbrushes and combs are adopted wherever possible, and room keys are also made of wood. Bath amenities like shampoo are provided in refillable dispensers instead of mini bottles. Material Innovation: Plastic laundry bags have been eliminated, bio-polymer garbage bags have been introduced, and plastic sanitary bags will be replaced with aluminum ones (from October 2024). Furthermore, in December 2025, guest room slippers will be renewed from polyester to "100% cotton & cork." Plastic-Free Throughout the Facility: Plastic straws are not used in the facility; "bamboo straws" are provided. Takeaway food containers are also made of paper and wood.

3. Responsible Sourcing and Contribution to Local Communities 100% Cage-Free Eggs: As of March 2024, the resort has transitioned to 100% cage-free eggs for all eggs used in cooking (shell eggs, yolks, whites, liquid eggs). For some commercially processed egg products, the transition to cage-free products is underway, and the resort is currently working with suppliers to introduce alternative products. Collaboration with LEAFRU FARM: Fresh vegetables and herbs from "LEAFRU FARM," an energy-saving indoor farm operated by Hokkaido Electric Power, are offered at the breakfast buffet salad bar and other venues. Preservation of Agricultural Heritage: Hotel staff cultivate rice in a dedicated paddy field in Rankoshi Town, in partnership with local farmer Masato Miyatake. This rice is served as a special dish exclusively at the hotel's restaurants.

4. Respect for Diversity and Engagement with Local Communities Diversity & Inclusion: A team comprising over 27 nationalities fosters an inclusive workplace culture that respects each other's backgrounds. Participation in Local Activities: The resort fulfills its responsibility as a member of the local community by participating in local cleanup activities and the "Kutchan Potato Festival."

Park Hyatt Niseko HANAZONO continues to strive for "sustainable luxury" where "nature, community, and people" shine together, under the international food safety management standard ISO22000:2018 certification. Furthermore, in 2025, the resort obtained EarthCheck Silver certification, promoting responsible hotel operations as part of the EarthCheck program. Not content with this achievement, the resort aims to obtain EarthCheck Gold certification and will continue to advance its initiatives.
