Fukuichi Seian Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Fukuoka City, Fukuoka Prefecture) has launched "un," a new brand that re-evaluates the value of anko itself, and has begun pre-sales on the crowdfunding service "Makuake."

Amidst the shrinking market for traditional Japanese sweets and the diversification of food preferences, the value of anko is being reconsidered.

As a bean paste manufacturer founded 75 years ago in Fukuoka, the company has historically provided anko to confectionery shops and restaurants. Having focused primarily on commercial-use manufacturing for many years, anko has often been used merely as a "filling" for Japanese sweets or bread, leaving few opportunities to deliver its appeal directly to consumers.

"un" represents a "small negation" intended to rethink the conventional wisdom surrounding anko. It is a brand reconstructed on the premise of "enjoying it as the main attraction," reconsidering the value of anko as it has been known until now. It proposes a new experience: tasting anko that has been carefully cooked with a focus on its ingredients, and enjoying it through various combinations.

The lineup consists of seven varieties, each developed with a clear purpose.

The classic Tsubuan (chunky) and Koshian (smooth) use the "Sumera" brand of Tokachi-grown adzuki beans, finished to highlight the natural flavor of the ingredients. Furthermore, the brand takes on unprecedented combinations, including Matcha An using Yame tea, Strawberry An using Fukuoka-grown Amaou strawberries, Cheese An blended with cream cheese, Purple Sweet Potato An from Southern Kyushu, and Mentaiko An using additive-free spicy cod roe.

With sweetness, texture, and aftertaste meticulously designed, the products are structured to be enjoyed both individually and in combination. We propose new ways to enjoy anko: "tasting it as is," "enjoying it in combinations," and "comparing flavors."

Additionally, "un" is manufactured only once a year, and we have adopted a system where the next lineup is updated based on purchaser surveys. This current combination of seven types is a one-time-only configuration.

Currently, this project has reached its target amount and has received over 1.1 million yen in total support purchases. The project is scheduled to be open until April 19, 2026.

Following the conclusion of the project, we plan to sell limited quantities through our own online store starting June 16, 2026.
