Reconstruction Agency Opens Nominations for 'New Tohoku' Reconstruction and Creation Awards 2026

H-Tas Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo; CEOs: Ryo Hara / Go Ozawa) has been commissioned by Japan's Reconstruction Agency to conduct the discovery and selection process for the 'New Tohoku' Reconstruction and Creation Awards.

Purpose The Reconstruction Agency aims to create a 'New Tohoku' that serves as a model for regional revitalization by overcoming the long-standing challenges of disaster-affected areas, treating the earthquake as a catalyst for growth rather than merely restoring the status quo. To this end, the Agency leverages private-sector talent and expertise. Since fiscal 2016, this recognition program has been held to widely publicize and promote the activities of individuals and groups making significant contributions toward creating this 'New Tohoku,' ensuring these efforts are disseminated both within and outside the disaster-affected regions.

Nomination Guidelines Nomination Period: April 24 (Fri) – June 22 (Mon), 2026 *For mailed documents, they must arrive by June 22 (Mon).

Announcement and Award Ceremony: Winners will be selected by a committee of experts and announced in November 2026. Following the announcement, the Reconstruction Minister's Award, consisting of a certificate and a shield, will be presented to the recipients at an award ceremony.
