April 2026 Topics ■The national average monthly salary for full-time employees in April was 293,521 yen (up 1,179 yen from the previous month, up 7,136 yen from the previous year). The national number of full-time job openings was 317,900 (down 7,439 from the previous month, up 37,874 from the previous year). [Figure 2] [Figure 2] Trends in National Job Openings over the Past 25 Months Average Monthly Salary and Job Openings Survey by Occupation ■The top 3 occupations in terms of average monthly salary growth rate (month-on-month) were: 1st place: Public Servants/Organization Staff (increase amount +8,160 yen, growth rate +3.24%), 2nd place: Beauty/Esthetics/Nails (increase amount +7,357 yen, growth rate +2.66%), 3rd place: Hotels/Ryokans/Bridal (increase amount +2,567 yen, growth rate +0.95%). The lowest ranked was Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (decrease amount -2,974 yen, decrease rate -1.20%). The bottom 3 were: 45th place: Niigata Prefecture (decrease amount -880 yen, decrease rate -0.35%), 46th place: Iwate Prefecture (decrease amount -1,666 yen, decrease rate -0.66%), and last place: Kochi Prefecture (decrease amount -1,616 yen, decrease rate -0.66%). April 2026: 317,900 cases Salary information in the salary item of job information was converted into numerical values, and the lower limits were summed and averaged to calculate the average monthly salary. Job information's work location information was acquired and aggregated. If one job had two or more work location prefectures linked to it, the first listed prefecture was adopted.
