Fuku Sake Room
On April 29, 2026, the "Fuku Sake Room", a concept room where you can spend a "blissful" time with pufferfish and sake, will be born at "Risonare Shimonoseki", which has the concept of a "Designer Hotel of the Strait". In the Fuku Sake Room, in addition to original sake made in collaboration with the 100-year-old established sake brewery "Shimonoseki Shuzo", we provide snacks and sake vessels selected to match the alcohol. The living room is equipped with a design wall made of stacked wooden sake cups (masu) and art panels featuring pufferfish motifs. It is a space where you can fully enjoy "fuku" (pufferfish) and sake with family and friends, whether tasting local sake at the horigotatsu (sunken seating), playing with "Fuku Playing Cards", or just relaxing together.
Background
Shimonoseki City boasts the largest handling volume of pufferfish in Japan (*1), and citizens affectionately call it "fuku" (meaning fortune/luck) to bring good luck. Yamaguchi Prefecture also has a thriving sake production industry, offering famous sakes highly evaluated both domestically and internationally. The Fuku Sake Room was developed from the desire to offer a trip where many people can enjoy pufferfish and sake at Risonare Shimonoseki, located in Shimonoseki City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, where such charms gather.

The Fuku Sake Room is a limited offering of 3 rooms located on the top floor of our hotel. Inside the room themed around pufferfish and sake, there is a design wall made by stacking masu cups used for drinking sake, and art panels featuring pufferfish fin motifs are displayed on the wall. It is a space where you can spend your time as you like, gazing at the changing scenery from the window facing the Kanmon Strait, and visually enjoying the local culture.
Feature 2: "Sake Pairing" exclusive to the concept room

On the guest room's design wall, we provide 3 types of drinks and snacks that you can enjoy freely according to the situation of your stay, as well as sake vessels matched to the sake. Enjoying the marriage to your heart's content at your own pace is a privilege exclusive to this concept room.
Original Sake x Guinomi (Sake Cup) x Natsumikan Peel
The original sake, a collaboration with the 100-year-old sake brewery "Shimonoseki Shuzo", was developed using the assemblage (*2) method blending "Kurabito's Pride Sake" and "Bakan Dry Ginjo". The original sake, which is easy to drink even for sake beginners and has a delicate and lovely taste, is enjoyed in a guinomi crafted by Shimonoseki lacquer artisans, paired with natsumikan (summer mandarin) peel.

Sparkling Sake x Hagi Glass x Torafugu Rice Crackers
Dassai Junmai Daiginjo 45 Nigori Sparkling, characterized by the sweetness of Yamada Nishiki rice felt precisely because it is cloudy sake, can be enjoyed for its vivid sharpness in Hagi glass (*3). The matching snack is a rice cracker containing torafugu extract. Your appetite will be stimulated by the crispy texture and the mouthfeel of the sparkling sake.

Amazake x Original Ochoko x Spicy Shortbread
Shimonoseki Shuzo's amazake is made only with rice and rice koji, featuring a soft mouthfeel and aroma. Tasting it in an original Hagi ware ochoko inspired by the color of the sea of the Kanmon Strait further enhances its soft texture. It is a combination where you can taste the aroma of spicy shortbread using sake lees and cumin together with the aroma of koji.

To allow you to spend a harmonious time with a drink in hand, we have adopted a comfortable "horigotatsu" in the center of the living room. Stretching your legs, relaxing, and talking late into the night is the best part of traveling. Furthermore, the original "Fuku Playing Cards" will liven up your stay. With cards designed with pufferfish exhibited at the municipal Shimonoseki Aquarium "Kaikyokan", which boasts the world's largest number of pufferfish species exhibited, you can become familiar with pufferfish while playing. Items that tickle your intellectual curiosity and playfulness, not just a place to stay, produce a memorable night.
