The Horipro summer classic musical 'Peter Pan,' which has been cherished for over 45 years since its Japan premiere in 1981, will be performed again this summer at the Tokyo International Forum Hall C. Ahead of the performances, a production press conference was held on Tuesday, June 16, with a general audience invited.
Additionally, a special 'Peter Pan' event is scheduled for Saturday, July 4, at 1:00 PM at the Marui Family Mizonokuchi Terrace in Kawasaki City. Rena Yamazaki, who plays Peter Pan, will be present for a singing performance and other engaging activities for the audience. (Details will be announced on the official 'Peter Pan' musical social media accounts later.)
The musical will run from Monday, July 27 to Friday, August 7 at the Tokyo International Forum Hall C, followed by performances in Osaka, Aichi, and Yamanashi. Tickets for the Tokyo run are currently on sale to the general public.
At the event, a total of six songs from the musical were performed, including 'I'm Flying' and 'Hook's Waltz.' During a Q&A session, children from the audience asked questions, and the cast shared their passion for the production.
Rena Yamazaki (Peter Pan) 'I'm so happy to have played my dream role of Peter Pan for four years, but now that this is my last flight, I feel very sad. I will practice to give my all as the 11th Peter Pan and will do my best again this year to deliver 'This is Rena Yamazaki's Peter Pan!' to everyone.'
Akiyoshi Utsumi (Captain Hook) 'Director Ning Hasegawa told me he wants me to aim to be the 'fastest Hook,' so I want to utilize my athleticism in sword fighting and action scenes. This time, I aim to create a cool villain by bringing out a slightly narcissistic side.'
Nonoka Yamaguchi (Wendy) 'I was so happy to play my dream role of Wendy last year. This year, I hope to create a wider range of emotions for Wendy and delicately portray her growing affection for Peter.'
Koiro Nanase (Tiger Lily) 'We have acrobatic members with high physical abilities again this year, so together with the Lost Boys, I will give my all so as not to be outdone by the 'fastest Hook'!'
Maho Minamoto (Mrs. Darling) 'I spent my days watching cute animal videos, but once rehearsals started, the children were just so innocent and adorable. I want to be a firm mother who can keep the family together.'
Ning Hasegawa (Director/Choreographer) 'This year's theme is 'The Mirror.' I hope the characters in the play become a reflection, leaving an element that exists within the audience and ourselves. This year, I will present a 'greatest hits' compilation that summarizes our trials and experiments, incorporating new elements to pass the baton to the future.'
