Mitsubishi Estate Co., Ltd. is pleased to announce a collaboration menu between the "Twilight, Shin-hanga: From Kiyochika Kobayashi to Hasui Kawase" exhibition (hereinafter "Twilight, Shin-hanga") currently being held at the Mitsubishi Ichigokan Museum (Marunouchi, Tokyo) and resonance, a restaurant in Marunouchi operated by Blue Note Japan. This menu will be available for a limited period during the exhibition.
Dekopon Citrus and Financier Tart with Ricotta Milk Sorbet

This dessert expresses the delicate transition of light and shadow in "Twilight" with the fresh aroma of Dekopon citrus and homemade ricotta milk sorbet.
A financier, flavored with herb-infused browned butter, is prepared as a tart, layered with Dekopon in various forms such as confit, homemade oil, and powder. Served in a blue dish reminiscent of the twilight sky, it reflects the emotions of dawn and dusk captured in Shin-hanga prints, creating a dish characteristic of resonance.

【Reference Information ①】"Twilight, Shin-hanga: From Kiyochika Kobayashi to Hasui Kawase"

Kiyochika Kobayashi, considered one of the last ukiyo-e artists, began his "Famous Views of Tokyo" series in 1876 (Meiji 9), bringing about a major transformation in Meiji-era landscape prints. His works, depicting the expressions of twilight and the glimmering light in darkness, were called "Kosen-ga" (light-ray pictures) and captured the Edo atmosphere through deep shadows. This perspective resonated with the sentiment of people lamenting the fading vestiges of Edo and the photographic ambition to record them, setting it apart from the "Kaika-e" (enlightenment pictures) of contemporary ukiyo-e artists who optimistically depicted the changing city due to civilization and enlightenment with vibrant colors.
Shin-hanga, which aimed to revive ukiyo-e in the late Meiji period, inherited not only its techniques but also the sentiment that Kiyochika and others sought to preserve in their works, discovering new Japanese landscapes. This exhibition traces the flow of landscape prints from Kiyochika to Hiroshi Yoshida and Hasui Kawase through the Müller Collection of the Smithsonian National Museum of Asian Art.

Opened in Marunouchi, Tokyo, in 2010. 5-minute walk from JR Tokyo Station.
Holds three special exhibitions annually focusing on modern art from the late 19th to early 20th centuries. The red brick building is a faithful reconstruction of the "Mitsubishi Ichigokan" (designed by Josiah Conder), originally built by Mitsubishi in 1894. For the reconstruction, efforts were made to be as faithful as possible, based on photographs believed to have been taken at the completion of the Mitsubishi Ichigokan in 1894 (Meiji 27), as well as drawings and preserved components. https://mimt.jp/
