HoloLab Inc. (Headquarters: Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director CEO: Kaoru Nakamura; hereinafter "HoloLab") announces its appointment as an "Innovation Mentor" to support student growth in the "Faculty of Informatics" of Otemae University (Location: Nishinomiya City, Hyogo; President: Mitsutoshi Hirano), which is currently applying for establishment approval for its opening in April 2027.
1. About the Innovation Mentor System
The "Innovation Mentor System" is one of the unique educational programs developed by Otemae University's Faculty of Informatics. It aims to broaden students' perspectives and foster the courage to take on challenges by having leading engineers, creators, and other specialists serve as mentors, providing cutting-edge knowledge and career tips through interaction with students, and offering encounters with role models.
As a collaborating company in this system, HoloLab will leverage its expertise in socially implementing cutting-edge technologies such as XR (VR/AR/MR), spatial computing, and digital twins to support the growth of each student.
2. Utilization of "torinome" in Classes
As part of practical learning, HoloLab's XR digital twin platform "torinome" (Trinome) is planned to be introduced into the faculty's curriculum.
A scene showing a landscape simulation deployed in front of a school building, visualized in AR in the real world, and a video of it being checked.
"torinome" is a digital twin platform that seamlessly overlays diverse data such as 3D city models from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism's "Project PLATEAU," GIS, images, videos, 3D models, and point clouds onto a 3D globe, making it cross-platform accessible from web, smartphones, and XR devices. It has a proven track record of being utilized in citizen-participatory urban development, urban planning, and architectural planning sites by local governments.
Through its use in classes, students will be able to gain hands-on experience with next-generation information technologies where open data, 3D spatial information, and XR technology intersect, providing practical learning that connects to social implementation.
3. About Otemae University's Faculty of Informatics
Otemae University's Faculty of Informatics is a new faculty scheduled to open in April 2027 (※currently applying for establishment approval), developed from the Department of Information and Computer Science within the Faculty of Contemporary Society. It aims to cultivate human resources who can design a human-friendly future by integrating sensibility and digital expression with information technology.
Its distinctive educational system leverages the strengths of a medium-sized comprehensive university, featuring a "liberal arts and science dual-perspective" curriculum that can be studied regardless of academic background, and "cross-over projects" where teams tackle challenges across faculties.
(※The above establishment plan is tentative and subject to change)
