Hollywood Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Roppongi, Minato-ku, Tokyo), in collaboration with students from Shinagawa Joshi Gakuin, jointly developed the body & hand soap "roSJy Re bloom Rose Body & Hand Soap" through a special course titled "100 Years of Beauty and the Earth – Practical Beauty Product Development Course" conducted to commemorate the company's 100th anniversary.

This product has now received the Jury Prize (Upcycle Category) at the "Sustainable Cosmetics Award 2025."

Over approximately one year of collaborative development, the students practically handled everything from planning to public relations. The product uses rose water (distilled water) made from upcycled domestic roses, and its container is made from 100% recycled plastic. Furthermore, a portion of the sales is donated to organizations working to reduce flower loss, aiming to raise awareness about flower waste issues and a circular economy through daily care.

What is the Sustainable Cosmetics Award?

The Sustainable Cosmetics Award is the first and only award in Japan for cosmetics and fine toiletries that recognizes "people- and planet-friendly cosmetics" by establishing evaluation and screening criteria from an SDG perspective.

It promotes sustainability in cosmetics by evaluating, screening, and honoring products throughout their entire lifecycle, including ingredients, raw material production, manufacturing, sales, distribution, consumption, and disposal.

Wins Jury Prize (Upcycle Category)

The jury highly praised the product's strength, including its upcycled domestic roses and 95% natural origin formulation, in addition to its backstory of "co-creating the future with the women who will lead the next 100 years."

The students' self-conceived and developed process, the container's sustainability, and donations to related organizations were decisive factors in receiving the award, demonstrating multifaceted consideration throughout the product's entire lifecycle.

Background of Product Development

The development of this product began with the special course "100 Years of Beauty and the Earth – Practical Beauty Product Development Course," initiated when both Hollywood Co., Ltd. and Shinagawa Joshi Gakuin celebrated their 100th anniversaries.

In this course, Hollywood employees served as instructors and facilitators, working with Shinagawa Joshi Gakuin students to collaboratively develop products, aiming to share and realize values across generations under the theme of "living beautifully" and "living with the Earth."

Planning packages and PR methods for beauty products that consider beauty and the environment

This initiative provided an opportunity to not only learn about environmental problems but also to practically experience the entire process from product planning and development to PR and sales. It was conducted as an educational endeavor with the value of enabling next-generation women to think independently and communicate their ideas to society.

This product is a result of such learning and practice, aiming to be a "future standard" for the next 100 years.

Features of "roSJy Re bloom Rose Body & Hand Soap"
