We have participated in the "Aquasolita® (※1) 'Cheering Heatstroke' Countermeasure Project (※2)" organized by Ajinomoto Co., Inc., and test-provided this product to members of the Waseda Jitsugyo High School brass band at a media presentation held on June 10, 2026.
This product is designed to change color according to temperature. When applied to the skin, it visualizes the rise in skin surface temperature, allowing for early detection of heat-related risks not only for those playing sports but also for those cheering, such as brass band members.
We will continue to verify the usefulness of this product, support awareness of heat-related risks in cooperation with schools, companies, and organizations, and aim for practical application of this product by June 2027.

■ Background
In recent years, heatstroke countermeasures have become increasingly important for society as a whole. However, while the significant heat-related risks for those cheering, such as brass band members, cheering squads, parents, and spectators, have been recognized, adequate measures have not been taken.
A survey by Ajinomoto Co., Inc. revealed that approximately one in two people cheering for sports outdoors have experienced symptoms considered to be heatstroke. It has also become clear that brass band members, in particular, operate in harsh environments, such as performing for long periods under the scorching sun and dealing with the glare from instruments (※3).
TOPPAN and FANCL developed this product, which changes color based on body surface temperature, based on skin-adhering film technology using TOPPAN's film manufacturing technology. They have been conducting verification for practical application, including a demonstration related to heatstroke countermeasures for elementary school students in Yokohama City in October 2024.
Against this background, both companies participated in the "Aquasolita® 'Cheering Heatstroke' Countermeasure Project" organized by Ajinomoto Co., Inc., and test-provided this product to members of the Waseda Jitsugyo High School brass band, who often perform in situations with high heat-related risks.
■ Product Overview
This product combines a skin-adhering film using TOPPAN's film manufacturing technology with special ink that changes color at a certain temperature. It is designed to start changing color from approximately 34°C and reach maximum color change at approximately 36°C. This allows for intuitive understanding of body surface temperature through the color change of the seal. Currently in the development and testing phase, we are proceeding with verification of its usefulness towards future practical application.

■ About the "Aquasolita® 'Cheering Heatstroke' Countermeasure Project"
The "Aquasolita® 'Cheering Heatstroke' Countermeasure Project" is an initiative by Ajinomoto Co., Inc. for its oral rehydration solution "Aquasolita®" series to raise awareness about heatstroke among "people who cheer" for sports outdoors, i.e., "cheering heatstroke." This project first focuses on brass bands, which are symbolic of "people who cheer," and ultimately aims to expand activities to protect "people who cheer" from "cheering heatstroke" in all situations, such as sports viewing, events, and school functions.
As the first phase of the project, Ajinomoto Co., Inc. conducted sampling of "Aquasolita®" at the "Koshien Brass Band Festival 2026" held on May 31. Following this, on June 10, a media presentation included a "Passionate Lecture on 'Cheering Heatstroke'" and an "Aquasolita® Presentation Ceremony" for the Waseda Jitsugyo High School brass band.
■ Future Development
Through participation in the "Aquasolita® 'Cheering Heatstroke' Countermeasure Project," TOPPAN and FANCL will disseminate the importance of recognizing heat-related risks not only for athletes but also for spectators, in cooperation with schools, companies, and organizations.
Furthermore, we will continue to verify the usefulness of this product, promote awareness of heat-related risks, and aim to put the product into practical use by June 2027 to support appropriate health management in hot environments.

FAQ
How does the Temperature Indicating Seal help prevent heatstroke?
By applying it to the skin, it shows rising body surface temperature through color, aiding in the early detection of heatstroke risks. It is particularly effective for managing the condition of non-players, such as spectators.
How does the color change work?
It uses special ink that changes color at a certain temperature (starts changing around 34°C, reaches maximum change around 36°C) and is made with TOPPAN's film manufacturing technology to adhere to the skin.
Who developed this technology?
It was jointly developed by TOPPAN Co., Ltd. and FANCL Corporation, integrating the technologies of both companies.
When will it be generally available?
Currently, verification for practical application is underway, with the aim of commercialization by June 2027.
What is the "Cheering Heatstroke" Countermeasure Project?
It is a project led by Ajinomoto Co., Inc. to raise awareness about heatstroke (cheering heatstroke) among sports spectators and supporters. The test provision of this product was conducted as part of this initiative.
