Osaka Prefecture's Hirakata City (hereinafter, Hirakata City) and Panasonic Corporation (hereinafter, Panasonic) have agreed to jointly work towards realizing "Hirakata, a city that develops sustainably and where every individual shines," a goal stated in the 5th Hirakata City Comprehensive Plan, which aims to make childcare easier even amidst a declining population, and have concluded an agreement.

Based on this agreement, a demonstration experiment will be conducted to measure the impact and effects of dishwashers on shortening housework time, reducing household burden for childcare support, and promoting housework sharing, as well as to identify what kind of public services are needed. In this demonstration experiment, dishwashers will be lent to citizens free of charge, and the effectiveness in reducing household burden and the impact on promoting housework sharing will be jointly investigated and analyzed.

The tabletop dishwasher "Slim Dishwasher" NP-TSP1 used in this demonstration is designed with a slim body depth of approximately 34.1 cm, allowing it to be placed next to the kitchen sink. Despite its compact size, it has the capacity to wash 24 dishes for approximately 4 people at once, and can also wash cooking utensils such as 26 cm diameter frying pans, cutting boards, and knives. Additionally, it is a tank-type model that does not require connection to a branch water valve, making it easy to use.

Moving forward, Hirakata City and Panasonic will utilize the results obtained through this project to further understand support needs for promoting childcare and consider new policies.
