The Public Interest Incorporated Foundation Hokuriku Mirai Foundation (Kanazawa City, Ishikawa Prefecture, Representative Director: Mikiko Nagai), a community foundation serving the Ishikawa Prefecture region, will begin accepting applications for the 8th round of grants from the Noto Peninsula Earthquake Disaster Relief Fund, titled "Future Community Development Support Program," starting July 1, 2026. This initiative aims to support reconstruction and community development in the disaster-stricken areas of the 2024 Noto Peninsula Earthquake and to foster self-initiated solutions to local issues by residents.

This grant program will provide multi-year grants for two years to support sustainable activities in communities, with a maximum of 3 million yen per organization. It will cover not only project expenses but also costs for "organizational capacity building," such as improving IT environments and human resource development.

Background and Purpose of the Grant

Two years have passed since the Noto Peninsula Earthquake, and the affected regions continue to face diverse challenges, including population decline, deteriorating infrastructure, and a shortage of businesses. Despite these circumstances, individuals who are determined to continue living in their local communities, and those who have relocated after experiencing the area through volunteer work, are beginning to act as new community leaders.

In our foundation's view, "self-governance" means not waiting for someone else to act, but "setting the community's issues ourselves and solving them with our own hands, in our own way." To support organizations that have voluntarily formed for reconstruction and community development, transcending traditional local community organizations and geographical boundaries, this grant offers continuous support for two years. Furthermore, to enable organizations to continue stable operations after the grant period, we allow the inclusion of "organizational capacity building costs (up to 20% of the grant amount)" for strengthening public relations, fundraising, and governance. We fully support regional initiatives from both financial and organizational perspectives.
