As a collaborative project between Sports Hochi and the Koshien History Museum, we will host a talk show featuring Sports Hochi commentator and former Hanshin Tigers player Masayuki Kakefu before the Hanshin vs. Chunichi game on Friday, April 17. He will speak extensively about the 2025 Hanshin Tigers season, future prospects, and more. Tickets will go on sale online starting Tuesday, March 31.
[Talk Show Overview] Date and Time: Friday, April 17, 16:00–17:00 (scheduled) Guest: Masayuki Kakefu, Sports Hochi commentator and Hanshin Tigers alumnus Venue: Koshien History Museum Multipurpose Hall (Koshien Plus 3F) Participation Fee: Adults 4,000 yen, High school students 3,500 yen, Children (4 years old to junior high school) 3,000 yen (all prices include tax) * Includes admission to the Koshien History Museum (valid for one entry on the day of the event). Please visit the museum either before or after the talk show. * Discounts are available for Koshien History Museum Club members. [Profile of Masayuki Kakefu] Born May 9, 1955, age 69. Born in Chiba Prefecture. Joined the Hanshin Tigers in 1973 as a 6th-round draft pick from Narashino High School. He became a regular in the first team in his first year out of high school and secured the starting third baseman position the following year. As the Tigers' main slugger, he achieved three home run titles, one RBI title, seven Best Nine awards, six Diamond Glove awards, and three All-Star Game MVP awards, while contributing to the team's first-ever Japan Series championship in 1985. He is affectionately known by fans as "Mr. Tigers." After retiring in 1988, he worked as a baseball commentator on television and other media. In 2014, he was appointed as the Hanshin Tigers' GM-attached development and batting coordinator. In 2016, he became the farm team manager. Wearing his original jersey number 31, he dedicated himself to developing young players and coaching veterans, completing his two-year contract in the off-season of 2017. He subsequently served as a Senior Executive Advisor (SEA) to the owner, completing that two-year contract in October 2019. He currently appears in various media as a baseball commentator and was appointed Chairman of the Hanshin Tigers OB Association in November 2024. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2025 via the Expert Category.
