An exhibition of "dinosaurs" created by artist Masakatsu Shimoda by sewing canvas fabric will be held at "Hobonichi Sunday" on the 8th floor of Shibuya PARCO. This exhibition features all the works Shimoda has created to date, with a dynamic display of many works resembling dinosaur skeletons.

These works are made to be worn by people. Actor Shinta Furuta and performing artist Aoi Yamada have become "Dinosaur Humans" by donning Shimoda's dinosaur creations. Photos and videos of the two "Dinosaur Humans" taken at Shibuya PARCO will be shown extensively, exclusively at the venue.

A special feature of this exhibition is the secret QR codes scattered throughout the world of dinosaur "bones." When you find a QR code and hold your smartphone to it, various content unfolds. This summer vacation, please come and experience Shimoda's dinosaur world!

On the opening day (July 25th), Aoi Yamada will perform a special live performance. During the exhibition period, live painting and live production by Masakatsu Shimoda are also planned. Please look forward to these as well.

Details of this event:

● All works by Masakatsu Shimoda, including Tyrannosaurus Rex, Archaeopteryx, and Mammoths, will be exhibited.

"Masakatsu Shimoda: Spines and Fangs Exhibition" (at JINNAN HOUSE / 2021) Co-authored with Shuntaro Tanikawa, "There Were Dinosaurs" (Switch Publishing / 2016)

Masakatsu Shimoda, who works as a painter and illustrator, creates dinosaurs using a sewing machine. The concept behind his bold works, created by sewing canvas fabric with thread and stuffing them tightly with cotton, is "to wear them myself." Shimoda makes them so that they can be worn. Production began in 2011, and many dinosaurs have been born as his life's work. This exhibition will feature all of his past works, bringing together a large collection of dinosaurs. Tyrannosaurus Rex, Triceratops, Stegosaurus, Archaeopteryx, Mammoths... some works are born from imagination.

● Shinta Furuta and Aoi Yamada become "Dinosaur Humans"!

At the "Dinosaur Human Exhibition," we aimed to give form to the original concept of "wearing them" by having actor Shinta Furuta and performing artist Aoi Yamada wear the works. The two "Dinosaur Humans" appeared at Shibuya PARCO, where the venue "Hobonichi Sunday" is located. They walked around the building, rode escalators, and looked down on the streets of Shibuya... Shimoda himself was surprised by how cool they looked, saying, "I never thought anyone could pull this off so well." The photos and videos of these "Dinosaur Humans" were specially shot for this exhibition. This content will be available exclusively at the exhibition and will also be included in a poster book of merchandise.

● Enjoy photos and videos with QR codes. Experience "Dinosaur Humans" using AR technology!

Many "QR codes" are hidden within the "bone" world of the dinosaurs. By finding the QR codes located in over 10 places in the venue and holding your smartphone to them, photos and videos will appear. Reading one QR code reveals Shinta Furuta as a Dinosaur Human looking at you. Reading another QR code shows Aoi Yamada as a Dinosaur Human dancing.

Furthermore, we have created content using AR technology that allows visitors to feel like they are "wearing a dinosaur head right there." While the actual works are delicately made and should not be touched, you can experience the feeling of becoming a "Dinosaur Human." Combining dinosaurs from hundreds of millions of years ago as motifs with technologies available today, we have prepared other enjoyable experiences. Please participate as a unique "experience" of the Dinosaur Human Exhibition.

● On the opening day, July 25 (Sat), Aoi Yamada will present a "Dinosaur Human" live performance!

Performing artist Aoi Yamada will give a live performance on the opening day, July 25 (Sat). Of course, she will appear wearing Shimoda's dinosaur creations as a "Dinosaur Human." There will be three performance times during the day, so please come and attend.

Date: July 25 (Sat), 2026

1 1:00 PM - 2 3:00 PM - 3 5:00 PM Venue: Hobonichi Sunday (Shibuya PARCO 8th Floor)

・ Each performance is scheduled to last about 20 minutes. ・ Seating is limited, so standing room may be available. ・ While advance reservations are not required, admission may be restricted during peak times. ・ If admission tickets are issued, they will be announced on Hobonichi Sunday's X account (@hobo_nichiyobi). ・ An admission fee for the exhibition is required to view the performance.

● Live painting and live production by Shimoda will also take place. The exhibition will grow during the period.

Even after the exhibition begins, Shimoda will be drawing dinosaurs on the walls whenever he is present. The dinosaur drawings, done in white pen on a black wall, have a different charm from the bone works. A space resembling Shimoda's workspace will also be created in one corner, where he might be seen sewing new dinosaur bones. Information about live painting and live production sessions and their progress will be announced on Hobonichi Sunday's social media. (X: @hobo_nichiyobi / Instagram: @parco_hobonichi)

● A poster book for this exhibition and dinosaur merchandise by Shimoda will also be available.

We have created an original "Dinosaur Human Exhibition" poster book featuring newly shot photos of Shinta Furuta and Aoi Yamada. It is not bound but rather a collection of posters layered like a newspaper, allowing you to enjoy flipping through the pages or choose your favorite to display. We will also sell books previously published by Shimoda and dinosaur merchandise by Shimoda.
