**Hamamatsu Festival** Held annually on May 3, 4, and 5, the Hamamatsu Festival is known as one of Japan's leading festivals, attracting over 1 million tourists. The climax of the festival is the pulling of the Goten Yatai floats. Signaled by the sound of shamisens played by veterans and the flutes and musical accompaniments of beautifully dressed up children, the gorgeously decorated Goten Yatai floats begin to move.
