Seminar on "AI Agents and Security" Jointly Held with Waseda University with Students Who Will Lead the Next Generation

Scenes from the lecture and panel discussion Hitachi Solutions, Ltd. (Headquarters: Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo, President and CEO: Hidetoshi Morita / hereinafter referred to as Hitachi Solutions) jointly held an "AI Agents and Security" seminar with the Waseda University Data Science Center, with whom it has an academic exchange agreement, on March 18th. This seminar, now in its fifth year, was attended by 59 participants, primarily students from the university. As the use of generative AI and AI agents expands, new risks that cannot be addressed by conventional cybersecurity measures are emerging, such as information leakage, malfunctions, and prompt injection. In this seminar, from both research/education and corporate practical perspectives, we discussed security risks related to the coexistence of convenience and safety in the societal implementation of AI agents, involving students who are the next generation of users and developers. Through this seminar, Hitachi Solutions will contribute to the company's SX (Sustainability Transformation) by supporting the development of next-generation human resources based on its expertise in security, one of its key businesses. ■ About the "AI Agents and Security" Seminar In this seminar, lectures and a panel discussion were held by Hitachi Solutions' security experts and faculty members from the Waseda University Data Science Center. Hitachi Solutions' lecture explained security risks that companies face when considering AI utilization, as well as approaches to counter information leakage and unauthorized operations. The Waseda University Data Science Center's lecture introduced the technical background of generative AI and AI agents, and risks to consider during design and utilization. In the panel discussion, based on the lectures, opinions were exchanged regarding the coexistence of convenience and safety, with students participating. Feedback from the post-seminar survey included comments such as, "The key points of the problems AI faces were explained clearly based on the latest cases," and "I was able to become aware of factors hindering AI utilization and points to focus on."
