By combining Hitachi’s collaborative approach and digital engineering capabilities cultivated through Lumada with Google Cloud’s advanced AI, Hitachi aims to globally accelerate value creation through physical AI.
Through the strengthening of FDE, Hitachi will enhance its 'HMAX by Hitachi' platform using Gemini Enterprise to support frontline workers by automating complex operations. By sharing FDE knowledge horizontally, Hitachi will deliver value to a wider range of customers.
The companies are also expanding their collaboration to offer solutions that support enhanced security operations against the threat of AI-driven cyberattacks.
Hitachi, Ltd. is expanding its strategic alliance with Google Cloud to accelerate the implementation of physical AI in society, deploy cybersecurity solutions against AI-driven threats, and support customer problem-solving. Physical AI is a technology that links AI analysis and judgment from field data to the autonomous control and operation of equipment and facilities. Hitachi is establishing and globally deploying the Forward Deployed Engineers (FDE) model, combining its collaborative approach—leveraging its IT, OT, and product strengths—with Google Cloud’s advanced AI.
FDE is a group of specialists that works directly in the customer’s business field, executing the entire process from identifying management issues to early value verification via PoC, and agile implementation in actual operations. Hitachi’s consultants and AI-native software engineers from its subsidiary GlobalLogic will work closely with top Google Cloud engineers.
In close coordination with Hitachi’s 'Frontier AI Deployment Center,' the two companies will enhance 'HMAX by Hitachi,' a next-generation solution suite that innovates social infrastructure using AI, with the agent platform Gemini Enterprise. Furthermore, they will provide scalable value to a broader range of customers through a data foundation that reuses domain knowledge.
In the physical AI domain, where AI directly connects with the real world, advanced security is essential. According to Google Cloud’s 'Mandiant M-Trends 2026,' the evolution of AI technology has shortened the process of cyberattacks. Hitachi’s security center of excellence, 'Cyber CoE,' will collaborate with Google Cloud to combine technologies such as Google AI Threat Defense with Hitachi’s mission-critical system integration expertise to support customers’ security operations.
