SOMPO Himawari Life Launches 'Life Ending Support' in Collaboration with Kamakura Shinsho

SOMPO Himawari Life Insurance Co., Ltd. (President & CEO: Yasuki Kume, hereinafter 'the Company'), following the capital and business alliance between SOMPO Holdings, Inc. (Group CEO: Mikio Okumura) and Kamakura Shinsho, Ltd. (Chairman & CEO: Hirotaka Shimizu), has officially launched the 'SOMPO Himawari Life Ending Support' service to assist with end-of-life preparation (Shukatsu). 1. Background and Purpose In the era of 100-year lifespans and a declining birthrate with an aging population, people's anxieties are becoming complex and long-term, extending beyond health to nursing care, retirement funds, and end-of-life matters. In response to these changes, the Company aims to resolve three 'problems' related to health, nursing care, and retirement funds by providing a value chain that covers 'prediction,' 'prevention,' 'insurance,' 'prognosis/care,' and 'life ending.' As a specific initiative in 'life ending,' we have partnered with Kamakura Shinsho, a leading company in the Shukatsu field, to launch 'SOMPO Himawari Life Ending Support.' *The three 'problems': 'Health' (gap between life expectancy and healthy life expectancy), 'Nursing Care' (decrease in caregivers and serious supply-demand gap), and 'Retirement Funds' (low percentage of people prepared for retirement funds). 2. About 'SOMPO Himawari Life Ending Support' At various timings, including when customers request insurance payments, we will introduce specialized end-of-life services provided by Kamakura Shinsho.
