Sakai Moving Service Co., Ltd. (Sakai City, Osaka Prefecture; President: Tetsuyasu Tajima; hereinafter 'Sakai Moving Service') has partnered with paramita Inc. (Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo; Representative Directors: Atsushi Hayashi, Tetsuya Osawa; hereinafter 'paramita') to launch 'Ethical Moving for Business,' a new service designed to support corporate ESG management and decarbonization efforts.
This service provides a mechanism for companies to offset the CO2 emissions (Scope 3 emissions) generated by employee relocations and moves in and out of company housing through the use of carbon credits. It enables companies to easily and reliably contribute to forest conservation and the resolution of regional issues as part of their standard business operations.

■ Background and Objectives: Supporting Corporate 'Decarbonization Management' Through Moving
Currently, many companies are being urged to reduce greenhouse gas emissions not only within their own operations but across their entire supply chain (Scope 3) to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. However, emissions associated with logistics and transportation—particularly those from 'employee relocations'—have been an area where progress has been slow, despite the high frequency of such moves throughout the year.
In response, we have adapted the framework of 'Ethical Moving,' which was released for individual customers in January 2025 and received a significant response with over 40,000 applications in its first year, to create 'Ethical Moving for Business.' This service is specifically tailored for corporate contracts, allowing companies to integrate it into their environmental strategies.
■ Overview of 'Ethical Moving for Business'
This program allows corporate clients to make the CO2 emissions generated by a move effectively zero by adding 1,100 yen (tax included) to the moving cost.
1. Offsetting Scope 3 Emissions
We offset an average of 0.056t-CO2 (*) per move using government-certified forest-derived 'J-Credits.' In addition to reducing the administrative burden on companies to calculate and offset Scope 3 emissions, this service can also be used to strengthen employee engagement by instilling the company's environmental stance among its staff.
* The average CO2 emissions per move are calculated based on the Scope 1 emissions calculated by Sakai Moving Service using the Fuel Method and the total annual number of moves handled.
2. Contributing to Natural Capital Across Japan, Including Owase City (Mie) and Tatsugo Town (Kagoshima)
Carbon credit purchase targets for 'Ethical Moving for Business' include Owase City in Mie Prefecture and Tatsugo Town in Oshima District, Kagoshima Prefecture, where Sakai Moving Service has established agreements. We will continue to expand to forest conservation and ecosystem restoration projects across Japan. This allows for direct support of local biodiversity protection and regional revitalization alongside carbon offsetting.
3. Issuance of Certification Data for ESG Reports
We provide an offset certificate (cancellation notification) as proof of the offset. This can be included in external sustainability reports or integrated reports.
■ Specific Use Cases
We support a wide range of scenarios, from daily personnel transfers to large-scale base reorganizations:
- Regular and ad-hoc employee transfers
- Moving in/out of company housing and moves for new graduates
- Domestic moves before and after overseas assignments
- Office relocations and base consolidations
Through this initiative, Sakai Moving Service and paramita will support corporate decarbonization management while contributing to the realization of a sustainable society through regional forest conservation and ecosystem restoration.
