HIKE Inc. is pleased to announce that the musical 'The Incompetent Who Couldn't Use Spirit Magic Was Engaged and Exiled, So I Chose Exile Over Becoming My Stepsister's Slave,' which it is investing in and producing, is scheduled to be performed in October 2026. This work is an Isekai Cinderella story that begins with a broken engagement and exile, based on the manga by Nemi Tahana and original story by Megumegu (Everystar), serialized on Shueisha's digital comic label 'Dejima'. Takaya Okamoto, who ignited the recent boom in recitation plays with 'Eraser in My Head,' will be in charge of the script and direction. Yui Kojina will play Eva, a noblewoman who chooses to leave the country after her engagement is broken due to her inability to use spirit magic, and Ken Funaki will play Alan, a servant who accompanies Eva on her journey.

When I first encountered the original novel and manga, my impression after reading them was, 'What beautiful hearts they possess.' The purity of heart of the heroine Eva, and the people surrounding her, including Alan, felt incredibly dazzling to me, who often only sees SNS overflowing with malice and sad news.

And above all, the delicate nature of their love! Seeing that purity and shyness makes me wholeheartedly want to support them.

I believe such a pure story is perfect for a musical adaptation. Please enjoy this beautiful world, as if by (spirit) magic, to your heart's content.

I am Ken Funaki of NORD, who will be playing Alan, who supports the protagonist Eva!

When I read the original work, I was immediately captivated by its grand and beautiful world view and exhilarating story development. This is my third time working with director Okamoto. I am very happy to be able to work together again. I can imagine Mr. Okamoto being amused to see me playing a brilliant noble instead of a wild character (laughs).

I myself have rarely played such a classic, sparkling role, so I feel very fresh and grateful for this new challenge, and I want to deliver a wonderful work with all my heart and soul.

Story

This is a country where spirit magic supports people's lives. Everyone lived a rich life through spirit magic. However, Eva, the daughter of Duke Krosick, was an incompetent who could not use spirit magic at all. She was engaged to the Crown Prince, but the Crown Prince was secretly involved with Eva's stepsister, Malti.

Through the machinations of the Crown Prince and Malti, Eva is falsely accused and forced to choose between exile or becoming Malti's slave...!

Eva chooses freedom and decides to abandon the country. Appearing before Eva, who is about to embark on a journey alone, is Alan, a servant who secretly harbors feelings for her...
