nancoco Inc. (Location: Gifu City, Gifu Prefecture; Representative Director: Ayaka Ogino; Author name: Eiko Oki) is dedicated to developing products and systems that ensure pets are not left behind in the event of an emergency, guided by the motto: "Even if I cannot be saved, there is a life I want to protect."

We aim to create a system that prevents pets from being caught up in their owner's death.

Life with pets is increasing year by year. Not only dogs and cats, but various animals live with us as our precious family members.

On the other hand, there is a reality that is not widely known: when something happens to an owner, the lives of the animals left in the house can suddenly come to a standstill.

"What will happen to this little one if I collapse?" If an owner is suddenly hospitalized or collapses while out, the animals waiting at home may go without food or water without anyone noticing. If discovery is delayed, it is not uncommon for it to become a life-or-death situation.

With the increase in single-person households and elderly pet owners, such events are no longer rare. However, the current reality is that systems to prepare for such situations are not yet fully in place.

Activities that started with "getting noticed" To overcome this challenge, our company has created several products. We have developed items such as a "Pet Maternal and Child Health Handbook" to inform those around you of a pet's existence in an emergency, and keychains with emergency contact information on the back, which are loved by a wide range of people.

Among them, the "Neko Help Techo" (Cat Help Handbook) gathered the voices of pet owners through social media from the planning stage and became a notable project that raised 5,389,000 yen in crowdfunding, reaching 2,693% of its goal.

Supported by many owners, the help handbooks and help cards for animals have been used by many people. However, there was one limitation.

Previous products only function if someone finds them.

If you collapse alone at home, or if several days pass without being able to make contact, the handbook you carried while out or the paper stuck to your front door will be of no use.

When we created the help handbook, we viewed this as an "individual problem." That is why we chose a medium like a handbook that could be prepared at an individual level. However, we realized that this is a much larger distortion in our social system. This risk is connected to many social issues, such as lonely deaths, mass abandonment, and the culling of animals.

To solve this problem, we need the cooperation of not only those who live with animals but also the people around them. When we realized this, we saw an option beyond the handbook medium: an app that can connect via smartphone.

We decided to create an active mechanism for "getting noticed" through the power of technology.

A system where one button a day connects lives To solve this problem, we are developing the smartphone app "Uchinoko Baton" (scheduled for release in December 2026).

The mechanism is very simple. The owner just presses a button on the app every day. This is recorded behind the scenes as a "survival confirmation." If the record is interrupted for more than 48 hours, the app automatically determines that an emergency has occurred and sends an email to a pre-registered agent (family member or acquaintance). At that time, information necessary for taking over the pet, such as vaccination history, the regular veterinary clinic, and daily care information, is also sent.

1. Record the pet with one button every day -> "Owner survival confirmation" behind the scenes 2. Survival confirmation not received for 48 hours -> Emergency! 3. Contact the agent along with pet information

This simple mechanism becomes a "bond that notifies of an abnormality even if no one finds you."

When an owner can no longer move, an SOS is automatically sent without a fatal lag. The baton of a small life is automatically passed to the next reliable person; that is the core of this app.

Born from the voices of owners The "Neko Help Techo," which our company conceived and produced in 2022, was created by illustrator Eiko Oki (our current representative) calling out on X before the company was established, gathering the voices of many owners.

The app "Uchinoko Baton," currently under production, is also being developed through careful interviews and planning, using the "needs" voiced by owners as a guide.

In March 2026, when we posted the concept of this app on X, it received a response exceeding 340,000 impressions in one day. Comments like "I've always wanted this" and "I've been waiting for this" arrived one after another.

Initial conception and proposal via X Passionate request posts from users living with pets fly back and forth

The future we aim for We have consistently continued these activities with the slogan, "Even if I cannot be saved, there is a life I want to protect."

This is, of course, to reduce the number of pets and owners who feel sadness in an emergency. But that is not all. There are many people who live happily but still feel anxious because that "what if" crosses their minds. We feel it is our role to remove the anxiety of such people through the power of apps and products.

The app is scheduled for crowdfunding this summer. We are currently exchanging opinions with owners on various concepts for the December release.

We want to create a society where everyone who lives with a pet can spend each day peacefully. That is the future we aim for.
