AIOI Systems Co., Ltd. of Shinagawa, Tokyo, led by President Yutaka Yoshino, develops, manufactures, and sells logistics systems that support digital transformation in logistics and manufacturing. The company will launch the ST1037L Smart Tag on May 14, 2026 as a new model in its battery-free, rewritable “Visible RFID” series, featuring a 3.7-inch display. Smart Tag is AIOI’s proprietary “Visible RFID” digital label that combines RFID identification with an electronic paper display. The new ST1037L enlarges the screen from the previous 2.9-inch model to 3.7 inches, making information easier to check at a glance while improving display detail. It can present on-site information such as destinations, processes, lots, deadlines, and cautions in a clearer, more organized way, broadening its range of applications. The number of stored images has also been expanded from three screens to six. Users can prepare display images for different uses or items, such as process instructions or warnings, and switch to the necessary display as needed. The ST1037L inherits the core features of the Smart Tag series, including display rewriting in as little as one second, battery-free operation, more than one million rewrite cycles, a rugged structure, dustproof and waterproof design, and support for integration into conveyor-line operations. When combined with conveyor and material-handling equipment, it can rewrite displayed information while objects are being transported, supporting automation and labor saving at logistics and manufacturing sites. Smart Tag is a product that combines electronic paper with an RFID card. In addition to RFID-based ID management, the electronic paper display can be rewritten on site, making it not only identifiable but also immediately understandable to people. In logistics, it can be used for identification and destination displays on returnable containers, folding containers, roll cages, and similar assets. In manufacturing, it can be used for process instructions, work-in-process management, manufacturing orders, and ID displays, helping reduce paper label replacement work and waste. The product was developed against a backdrop of rising shipment volumes, labor shortages, and growing pressure to reduce environmental impact in logistics and manufacturing. Logistics centers regularly replace and peel off paper labels attached to returnable containers and folding containers, increasing workload and paper waste. Manufacturing sites also face issues such as the labor required to update paper-based process and identification information, labeling mistakes, and management burden. As conveyor lines and material-handling systems become more common, demand is increasing for mechanisms that can update required information at the right timing while objects continue moving without stopping. The ST1037L was developed to meet these needs by expanding display size while retaining the usability and durability of the existing Smart Tag series. It supports broader digitization of display operations in logistics and manufacturing environments. Key features include a 3.7-inch large display with 480 × 280-pixel resolution, increasing the amount of displayable information to about 2.2 times that of the previous model; non-stop rewriting during conveyor-line operation when paired with material-handling equipment; display rewriting in as little as one second to keep operations moving smoothly; battery-free operation and more than one million rewrites for long-term repeated use; storage expanded to six display images and user memory doubled from 16 KB to 32 KB; and rugged, dustproof, waterproof construction for industrial sites. It also supports simple NFC touch-based reading and rewriting, linkage with smartphones and handheld terminals, and display of fonts and barcodes. Main use cases include display tags for logistics containers and transport materials, destination and sorting displays on conveyor lines, instruction and progress displays in manufacturing sites, identification and access-management displays, and shelf or location displays for storage and item management. Going forward, AIOI will use its “Visible RFID” Smart Tag to support digital display operations in logistics and manufacturing, promote labor saving and traceability, and reduce environmental impact by cutting paper label use. The company will continue expanding its lineup based on on-site needs and aims to provide new value through comprehensive proposals that include systems and peripheral equipment.
