HashPort Inc. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director and CEO: Seihaku Yoshida, hereinafter "HashPort") announces that it has commenced a proof-of-concept for stablecoin payments (hereinafter "the PoC") starting Tuesday, April 7, 2026, in collaboration with Chibo Corporation (Headquarters: Naniwa-ku, Osaka; Representative Director and President: Kanji Nakai, hereinafter "Chibo"), utilizing its zero-fee stablecoin payment service "HashPort Wallet for Biz."
In this PoC, stablecoin payments using HashPort Wallet will be available at the following stores operated by Chibo.
■ Target Stores
- Chibo Sennichimae Main Store
- Chibo Yurakucho Bic Camera Branch
■ PoC Details
Users will be able to make payments at the target stores using the stablecoin (JPYC) held in their HashPort Wallet.
The stablecoin payments in this PoC support JPYC on the Polygon chain, allowing HashPort Wallet users to utilize stablecoin payments with no transaction fees.
Furthermore, as part of this PoC, users who make stablecoin payments will be granted a Chibo-original SBT (Soulbound Token).
This SBT goes beyond being a mere digital perk; it enables the visualization of visit and usage history linked to payments, as well as the accumulation of customer attribute data. This is designed with a view toward advancing future marketing measures and encouraging repeat visits.
■ Background and Purpose of this Initiative
Chibo has been promoting Web3 utilization initiatives in conjunction with the Osaka-Kansai Expo. By participating in linked measures with the "EXPO 2025 Digital Wallet" through ORA (Osaka Restaurant Association), of which Chibo is a member, and rolling out loyalty programs utilizing NFTs (SBTs), the company has been working on creating new customer experiences utilizing blockchain technology.
HashPort and Chibo aim to extend this flow of Web3 utilization from mere "experience" into "payments," and further build a new marketing model through the accumulation and utilization of customer data combining payment data and SBTs.
As a concrete first step, this initiative promptly launches the introduction of stablecoin payments in physical stores within the restaurant industry, alongside the verification of a next-generation store management model that integrates payments and data utilization.
