In Hokkaido, agricultural damage and traffic accidents (roadkills) caused by Ezo deer have become a serious social issue.

In FY2024, it was announced that agricultural damage amounted to approximately 5.27 billion yen annually, roadkills numbered 6,705 cases, and average vehicle repair costs were about 620,000 yen.

However, what lies behind these numbers is not just "money." It is human lives. And the lives of wild animals.

"...We used to harvest so many apples that they couldn't even fit in this warehouse."

These words, heard at an orchard in Minami-ku, Sapporo, are my origin.
