Denon will release the X-Series AV surround receivers, the 'AVR-X3900H' and 'AVR-X2900H', in late June 2026. These new models are designed for home theater enthusiasts who understand the importance of high sound quality and wish to further evolve their systems. They are also designed with custom installers in mind, offering advanced calibration options, flexible system configuration, and more detailed control for building dedicated home theaters and whole-house audio systems.
The new X-Series AV receivers focus on 'refinement' and 'scalability'. They were created for listeners who want to meticulously tune every detail, and installers seeking reliable, consistent, and high-performance solutions.
At the core of both models is Denon's continued focus on 'sound quality'. Through the use of custom parts such as revamped block capacitors and power transistors, along with a newly adopted current-output 32-bit multi-channel DAC, they achieve improved sound image localization, clearer high-frequency details, and powerful low-frequency energy across all channels. These AV receivers are developed and tuned at the 'Denon Shirakawa Audio Works' in Japan.
The AVR-X3900H features a 9-channel power amplifier with a maximum practical output of 215W and a rated output of 105W, 11.4-channel processing, and a pre-amplifier mode, designed to be the centerpiece of complex speaker configurations. In addition to Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, it supports IMAX Enhanced, Auro-3D, and MPEG-H. It also includes proprietary features like the 'Channel Expander' and 'Channel Level Monitoring'. It supports paid upgrades for Dirac Live Room Correction and Bass Control.
On the other hand, the AVR-X2900H is equipped with a 7-channel power amplifier (maximum practical output 185W, rated output 95W). It supports Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, advanced HDMI features, and gaming standards (VRR, ALLM, etc.), making it a versatile upgrade model. Compatibility with Dirac Live Room Correction is also planned for the future.
Both models feature the network audio platform 'HEOS', providing access to a variety of music streaming services and multi-room audio capabilities. A firmware update is also planned to add wireless surround functionality.
