83.00% of Women Answered They 'Like' Dog-Type Men | Survey on the Characteristics of Dog-Type Men and Their Preferred Women (By Happy Mail)

Ibec Inc. (Headquarters: Fukuoka City, Fukuoka Prefecture), operator of the dating and matchmaking app/service 'Happy Mail' (https://happymail.co.jp/) which boasts a cumulative total of 35 million members (*1), conducted a survey regarding 'Dog-Type Men' targeting 100 adult women and 100 men who self-identify as dog-type men.

In this survey, multiple-choice questionnaires were conducted and tallied regarding:
- Whether they know the meaning of the term 'Dog-Type Man' (Inu-kei danshi)
- Whether they like dog-type men
- The characteristics self-identified dog-type men think they possess
- The type of women that dog-type men prefer

**1. 85.00% of Women Know the Term 'Dog-Type Man'**
When 100 adult women were asked, 'Do you know the meaning of the term "Dog-Type Man"?', 85 people (85.00%) answered 'Yes', and 15 people (15.00%) answered 'No'.
It can be seen that many women understand the meaning of the term, and 'dog-type man' is widely recognized as a word describing a certain type of man.

**2. 83.00% of Women Answered They 'Like' Dog-Type Men**
Next, when the 100 adult women were asked, 'Do you like dog-type men?', 83 people (83.00%) answered 'Yes', and 17 people (17.00%) answered 'No'.
Over 80% of women view them favorably, showing that dog-type men are a highly popular type as potential romantic partners.

When 100 men who self-identify as dog-type were asked, 'What characteristics do you think apply to you?', 'Having a friendly personality' was the most common answer.
This was followed by answers like 'Like to be relied upon' and 'Basically cheerful and energetic'.
From these results, we can see that dog-type men are recognized as having characteristics such as 'approachability', 'honesty', and 'positivity'.

When the 100 self-identified dog-type men were asked, 'What kind of women do you like?', 'Having a kind personality' was the top answer.
This was followed by 'Capacity to accept/embrace', and 'Good at complimenting'.
Because dog-type men tend to express their feelings honestly, there was a trend showing they are attracted to women with kindness and broad-mindedness who can accept that.

We asked the 100 self-identified dog-type men to 'Tell us a woman's behavior that inadvertently made your heart skip a beat' and collected free-text responses.
As a result, the behaviors of women that easily move dog-type men were broadly categorized into three main actions: 'complimenting', 'clearly conveying affection', and 'casually showing consideration'.
