Since the TV series began in 1995, 'Evangelion' has become a social phenomenon that transcends time and borders. Now, the art project 'Eva Japonism,' produced by the Ukiyo-e publisher Han-to Co., Ltd., which inherits the Ukiyo-e culture of the Edo period, is proud to announce the second installment: the 'Eva Kabuki' series. This project originated from the 'Kabuki Symphony No. 9: Evangelion' performance held on February 23rd at the 'EVANGELION:30+; 30th ANNIVERSARY OF EVANGELION' festival. The series features key visuals by artist Yoshiyuki Ebata and teaser visuals by artist Izumo. These seven supreme collection pieces (including sets) will be available for purchase starting at noon on Monday, March 30th, at the Han-to online shop, 'Ukiyo-e Kobo.' The collection includes: 'Sukuse no Yukiai' (The Meeting of Destinies), depicting a mythical encounter between Kaworu Nagisa and Shinji Ikari; 'Okubi-e' (large-head portraits) of Kaworu and Shinji that capture the tension and serenity of Kabuki; and 'Senjafuda' (votive slips) designs that elevate the Evangelion units into the aesthetic style of traditional Kabuki.
