The Rokko Alpine Botanical Garden, operated by Rokko Tourism Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Nada Ward, Kobe City; President: Akitaka Senoo), is now experiencing peak bloom of the 'Nikkoukisuge' flowers.

Known as a highland flower that ushers in a refreshing summer, the 'Nikkoukisuge' is exceptionally rare west of the Kansai region, making its widespread bloom a precious sight. Currently, visitors can view a highland-type colony of approximately 2,000 plants located beside the Rock Garden. The vivid scenery, resembling a yellow carpet, is highly photogenic and ideal for photography and videography.

◆ Nikkoukisuge (Hemerocallis dumortieri var.esculenta, Family: Xanthorrhoeaceae)

The Nikkoukisuge is a perennial herb that grows in moist grasslands of the subalpine zone in Hokkaido and central to northern Honshu.

Famous colonies can be found in Oze and Kirigamine, and the plant typically reaches heights of 40–70 cm. The flowers are day-blooming, opening in the morning and closing by evening. However, each stem produces multiple buds that bloom sequentially, allowing visitors to enjoy the flowers over an extended period.
