Rokko Alpine Botanical Garden, operated by Rokko-San Tourism Co., Ltd. (HQ: Nada-ku, Kobe; President: Akitaka Senoo), is currently celebrating the peak blooming season of the coveted alpine plant, the 'Komakusa.'

Komakusa, which also serves as the garden's symbol, is known as the 'Queen of Alpine Plants.' It features a stunning harmony of mysterious glaucous leaves and pink flowers, making it a rare flower usually found only in high mountain ranges. The garden, currently in its best season, also features a large cluster of Japanese primrose (Kurinso) in full bloom.

◆Komakusa (Papaveraceae)
A representative flower of Japan's alpine flora, distributed across Hokkaido and northern/central Honshu. While the plant stands about 10cm tall with flowers about 2cm in diameter, its underground roots can reach up to 1 meter in length. It grows solitary in rocky areas where other plants cannot survive. The Komakusa at our garden is expected to be on display until late June.
