For seven days from July 8 (Wed) to July 14 (Tue), 2026, Hankyu Umeda Main Store's B1F "Tree Terrace" will host a limited-time event, "The Charm of BRULEE to Experience with All Five Senses," the first department store appearance for Ohayo Dairy Co., Ltd.'s ice cream "BRULEE." The event will offer a special ice cream experience for all five senses, including limited eat-in menus supervised by Junji Tokunaga, owner of the popular Tokyo-Meguro patisserie "équilibre," and new flavors like "BRULEE PISTACHIO."

"BRULEE": 7 Years from Conception, Over 1,000 Prototypes. Pursuing Authentic Torched Sugar

"BRULEE" uses generous amounts of carefully selected domestic dairy ingredients for its milk ice cream. The surface is meticulously torched using Ohayo Dairy's proprietary method (patent pending) to recreate the characteristic crisp texture and the fragrant, slightly bitter burnt sugar of crème brûlée. For the caramelization, a unique blend of multiple sugars is used, pursuing the golden ratio for the most delicious result. Cracking the caramelized sugar reveals a crisp, fragrant surface, and the milk ice cream, enriched with fresh cream, gently melts with its rich flavor.

Released in 2017 after approximately seven years of development, "BRULEE" won the Grand Prix in the largest-ever frozen food and ice cream general election in Japan in 2022. It is currently highly popular among international visitors and is a trending brand on social media in Asian regions such as Taiwan, South Korea, and Hong Kong.

This eat-in exclusive menu was born from the shared vision of "BRULEE" and Chef Junji Tokunaga of "équilibre," a patisserie that prioritizes "balance" above all else in dessert creation. Featuring chestnut, a specialty of équilibre, this menu layers a special chestnut cream made with French chestnut paste onto "BRULEE MILK," whose flavor profile has been meticulously crafted. Inside the chestnut cream, delicate candied chestnuts and light fresh cream are hidden. Enjoy a unique marriage of flavors where the fragrant torched sugar, rich milk ice cream, and the aromatic chestnut harmoniously blend – an experience only available here.

New Product: "BRULEE PISTACHIO"

This new flavor will be exclusively sold at the Hankyu Umeda Main Store during this period. It is a blend of carefully selected pistachios. Without using artificial flavors or colors, the taste brings out the vibrant aroma and rich depth of roasted pistachios. Cracking the torched sugar releases a gentle aroma of rich pistachios, and the creamy flavor slowly unfolds. Enjoy a special experience woven from the characteristic fragrance of BRULEE and the rich lingering taste of pistachio.
