Children's Day (Tango no Sekku) is an annual early summer event celebrated for the healthy growth of boys. Since ancient times, there has been a custom of using 'Shobu' (iris) as a medicinal herb for good health, either by putting it in bathwater (Shobuyu) or decorating eaves to ward off evil.
Hanshin Umeda Main Store has been delighting customers by giving away Shobu since 1993 and origami helmets (Kabuto) since 2000.
This year, during the two-day event, the first 400 people who win a game of 'Rock-Paper-Scissors' with the staff will receive 'Shobu' and a 'Hanshin Tigers Paper Kabuto.'
