This time, from May 6th to 11th, the Hankyu Umeda Gallery will feature a special installation space titled "Kenji Yanobe Chamber of Curiosities" as an annex to the exhibition "Chamber of Curiosities: We, Disappear" currently held at the Nakanoshima Museum of Art, Osaka. Since the early 1990s, he has created large-scale functional mechanical sculptures themed around "survival in modern society." His works, which embed social messages in humorous forms, are highly acclaimed worldwide. Since 2008, he has served as a professor at Kyoto University of the Arts and director of ULTRA FACTORY. In 2017, he began the 《SHIP’S CAT》 series based on the motif of a seagoing cat, a guardian deity of travelers.
