### Artist Profile: Kenji Yanobe
Born in 1965 in Osaka. Since the early 1990s, he has created large-scale functional mechanical sculptures themed around "survival in modern society." His works, which embed social messages in humorous forms, are highly acclaimed worldwide. Since 2008, he has served as a professor at Kyoto University of the Arts and director of ULTRA FACTORY. In 2017, he began the 《SHIP’S CAT》 series based on the motif of a seagoing cat, a guardian deity of travelers. In 2021, 《SHIP’S CAT (Muse)》 was permanently installed as a symbol of the Nakanoshima Museum of Art, Osaka.
