The Japan Handball Association (JHA), a certified public interest incorporated foundation, will hold the 2nd development training camp of the 2026 NTA (National Training Academy) from Friday, July 3, 2026 to Sunday, July 5, 2026 at the Ajinomoto National Training Center in Tokyo.

The NTA is an elite athlete development program established as part of a medium- to long-term enhancement plan aimed at qualifying for and winning medals at the Olympic Games with the men's and women's national teams. The program identifies promising athletes from across Japan and plays a key role in strengthening the future of Japan's national teams.

The 2nd development training camp will include 25 female and 25 male athletes selected from the 2026 NTA cohort. Under the guidance of 20 staff members, participants will focus not only on improving competitive ability but also on developing the mindset and independence required of future members of Japan's national teams. A full list of the 2026 NTA athletes is available here.

The 1st development training camp focused on training to cultivate awareness and responsibility necessary for competing internationally, as well as on reviewing and mastering fundamental 1-on-1 skills. Additionally, intellectual skill programs such as sports science education and goal setting were conducted. (1st Development Training Camp Report >)

For the 2026 NTA, four development training camps are scheduled throughout the year (including one camp exclusively for goalkeepers), along with an overseas training tour. Through these camps and tours, the program will foster not only handball skills but also the personal qualities—"human capabilities"—required of future members of Japan's national teams.
