"KYOTO NIPPON FESTIVAL 2026 -Transcending Time, Flowers Blooming in the Garden-," produced by Mika Ninagawa with EiM, is being held at Kitano Tenmangu Shrine — the head shrine of all Tenmangu shrines nationwide — from Sunday, February 1 to Sunday, May 24, 2026. "KYOTO NIPPON FESTIVAL" was born in 2016 and has been transmitting Japan's "beauty" and "culture" to the world from Kyoto. Marking its 10th anniversary in 2026, artist Mika Ninagawa and the creative team EiM — which includes Hiroaki Miyata, who also served as theme project producer for the Osaka-Kansai Expo — along with specialists from various fields, have joined the project. The art installations held since February 1 in areas including the Bai-en "Hana no Niwa" (Plum Garden "Garden of Flowers") have drawn approximately 80,000 visitors, and the immersive performance《Hanayoi no Daichakai》by dance company DAZZLE and Mika Ninagawa with EiM, which opened on Friday, March 20 (national holiday), has been sold out every day. In response to the enthusiastic reception, we are pleased to announce that starting Saturday, March 29, art viewing tickets — with photography permitted inside the venue — will go on sale on-site at Fugetsu-den, allowing visitors to fully enjoy the art space of the immersive performance《Hanayoi no Daichakai》created by Mika Ninagawa with EiM. Furthermore, from April 1, the Fresh Green Maple Garden at the historic Odoi earthwork will open for entry with installation tickets, with evening illuminations beginning on the opening day. The installation《Zansho (Lingering Light)》standing at Odoi Baiko-ken will reveal new expressions as the seasons change.

Photography-Permitted Art Viewing Tickets for Immersive Theater《Hanayoi no Daichakai》on Sale from March 29 — An Experience of Being Immersed in the Space Through Mika Ninagawa with EiM's Color, Light, Music, and Video

The immersive theater《Hanayoi no Daichakai》is an experiential performance lasting approximately 70 minutes, created through a collaboration between internationally acclaimed dance company DAZZLE and Mika Ninagawa with EiM, in which visitors themselves walk through the venue and step into the story. The venue, Fugetsu-den at Kitano Tenmangu Shrine, is transformed into a space adorned with color, light, music, and video by Mika Ninagawa with EiM. With these art viewing tickets, visitors can not only enjoy and photograph the stage sets, but also experience the music and visuals.

The story of the immersive theater brings together characters associated with Kitano Tenmangu Shrine, transcending time. The venue features six characters central to the story — Toyotomi Hideyoshi, Murasaki Shikibu, Toshizo Hijikata, Fujiwara no Tokihira, Sei Shonagon, and Izumo no Okuni...
