Hajime Kensetsu Co., Ltd. Hosts Wooden House Construction Site Tour for 39 Second-Year Students from Aichi Prefectural Hekinan Technical High School on June 12 (Friday)

Hajime Kensetsu Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Toshima-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Tadami Horiguchi; hereinafter “Hajime Kensetsu”), a core company of Iida Group Holdings, hosted a “Wooden House Construction Site Tour” on Friday, June 12, 2026, for 39 second-year students from the Architectural Design Department at Aichi Prefectural Hekinan Technical High School (located in Hekinan City, Aichi Prefecture; hereinafter “Hekinan Technical High School”).

Purpose of the Wooden House Construction Site Tour

According to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, the number of construction industry workers in 2025 is projected to be 4.78 million, a decrease of approximately 30% compared to the peak of 6.85 million in 1997※1. Additionally, due to the mass retirement of the baby boomer generation and the implementation of the overtime work cap regulation in April 2024 (the “2024 Construction Industry Issue”)※2, improving productivity and securing skilled workers have become major challenges across the industry.

Furthermore, the job market for high school graduates remains a seller’s market. The job offer-to-applicant ratio for 2024 graduates is approximately 1.66 for university graduates, 4.10 for high school graduates, and as high as 31.90 for technical high school graduates. In this context, experiential initiatives—such as site visits that allow students to experience the actual work—are crucial for deepening understanding of the construction industry.

Event Details of the Wooden House Construction Site Tour

The event began with an opening address by Tadashi Tsuchiya, an Executive Officer of Hajime Kensetsu, followed by explanations of foundation work and structural framing inside the under-construction wooden house.

Subsequently, a full-time carpenter employed by Hajime Kensetsu provided instruction on the safe use of power tools such as circular saws and impact drivers. Four selected students experienced screw-driving tasks, while other students attempted cutting wood using hand saws. Additionally, the site introduced the construction management app “ANDPAD,” allowing students to experience firsthand how digital transformation (DX) is changing work practices in construction through actual operation.
