Human Technologies, Inc. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Koichi Iezaki; hereinafter "the Company") will hold a free online seminar, "Re-lecture Decided Due to Popular Demand! Are You Doing Year-End Adjustment Work That Invites Tax Audits? ~Points Targeted in Audits and Practical Responses to the 2026 Tax Reform Revealed by Tsuji・Hongō Tax Corporation~" on Tuesday, July 14, 2026.
In recent years, tax audits related to year-end adjustments have increasingly pointed out issues such as insufficient verification of dependent exemptions and insurance premium deductions, even when handled unintentionally by staff. This has led to a growing interest in the proper operation of year-end adjustments within corporate HR and labor departments.
This seminar is a re-lecture of a session initially held in May 2026 for customers using our "KING OF TIME" service, which was highly acclaimed. Due to numerous positive responses, such as "The explanations based on concrete examples were easy to understand" and "The perspective from tax audit viewpoints was unique," we have expanded the scope to include not only existing "KING OF TIME" customers but also companies considering its adoption and sales partners, making it widely available to the public.
Part 1 will feature Ken Azumi, a tax accountant and Head of the Audit Department at Tsuji・Hongō Tax Corporation (Headquarters: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo; Chairman: Keiko Kuwaki), which advises over 20,000 companies. Mr. Azumi will explain the focus points and specific examples of issues identified in tax audits of year-end adjustments, as well as the impact of the Reiwa 8 (2026) tax reform on practical year-end adjustment procedures. Part 2 will introduce practical methods for improving operational efficiency using the year-end adjustment functions of the "KING OF TIME" series.

[Background and Challenges]
Year-end adjustment is a crucial annual task for corporate HR and labor departments. However, due to the complexity of the procedures, tax audits often identify issues that were not intentionally mishandled, such as incorrect application of dependent exemptions, oversight in understanding spousal income, or insufficient verification of insurance premium deduction certificates. Even when staff believe they are operating correctly, a lack of understanding of the system or inadequate verification processes can lead to unforeseen risks.
Furthermore, the Reiwa 8 (2026) tax reform includes revisions directly impacting year-end adjustment practices, such as changes to the taxation threshold due to the review of basic exemptions and employment income deductions (the so-called "1.78 million yen wall"). Amidst these frequent system changes, HR and labor departments are now required not only to "know the legal revisions" but also to "achieve proper operations that can withstand tax audits."
In May 2026, our company held this seminar in advance for "KING OF TIME" users. The explanation of year-end adjustment pitfalls from a tax audit perspective received a great response from participants, with many comments such as "I clearly understood what would be examined in a tax audit" and "I can immediately apply this to my practical work for year-end adjustments." In response to this feedback, we have decided to hold a re-lecture open to the public to deliver the seminar's content to a wider audience.
[Seminar Features and Highlights]
1. Tsuji・Hongō Tax Corporation's "Audit Department Head" Specifically Explains Year-End Adjustment Pitfalls Targeted in Tax Audits
Part 1 features Ken Azumi, Head of the Audit Department at Tsuji・Hongō Tax Corporation, with over 30 years of practical experience in corporate taxation. Mr. Azumi will explain common year-end adjustment processing errors frequently flagged in tax audits and cases that become problematic even if not "intentional," using concrete examples. He will also cover the points of the Reiwa 8 (2026) tax reform that affect year-end adjustment practices, summarizing the practical precautions to take for this year's year-end adjustments.
2. From "Knowing" to "Operating Correctly" - Practical Points for Year-End Adjustments to Prepare for Tax Audits
The seminar's greatest feature is its focus on providing concrete details from the perspective of tax auditors – "What will be looked at?" and "Where will issues be flagged?" – rather than just explaining the system. In the May session, participants commented, "This was the first time I received an explanation from a tax audit perspective, and it was very helpful" and "The specific examples of issues flagged were directly relevant to practical work."
3. Available at No Additional Charge - Achieve Operational Efficiency with "KING OF TIME" Year-End Adjustment Functions
Part 2 will introduce methods for improving operational efficiency using the year-end adjustment functions of the "KING OF TIME" series. "KING OF TIME" is widely known as the No. 1 cloud system in time and attendance management share (Note 1), and its HR/Labor, payroll, and year-end adjustment functions are available at no extra charge within your time and attendance management subscription. We will practically demonstrate features that reduce the burden of year-end adjustments, such as submitting declarations via smartphone and automatic reading of deduction certificates using AI OCR.
