GVA TECH Inc. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo, Representative Director: Shun Yamamoto, hereinafter "GVA TECH"), provider of the legal professional service "Benpal" series, held the "Generative AI Practical Conference for Lawyers ~From Introduction to Application in Local Practice~" on June 22, 2026 (Monday).

Over 300 applications were received from across the country. Four practicing lawyers explained how AI is being utilized in legal practice, including summarizing consultation memos that can be replicated from tomorrow, drafting correspondence, and creating in-house applications.

Furthermore, as a concluding event for the conference, a business partnership between three companies was announced to achieve end-to-end legal document creation.

Background of the Event

In May 2026, the mandatory use of the civil litigation system "mints" marked a turning point in the digitization of the legal profession, which is now unavoidable. While the use of generative AI is advancing in the legal industry, many lawyers are still finding that its application is "limited to simple summarization in chats and drafting administrative correspondence," "they don't know how to use it for drafting documents or research," or "they don't know where to start."

This conference was planned with the aim of supporting the DX of law firms by sharing information from the initial steps of generative AI introduction to the in-house development of unique AI applications for firms, and the impact AI brings to law firm management.

Session 1: "Law Firm Management in the Generative AI Era ~How Sales, Operations, and Human Resources Will Change~"

Speaker: Shun Yamamoto, Representative Director/Lawyer, GVA TECH Inc.

Actual data was presented showing that AI utilization can reduce document drafting time by up to 1/5. The traditional business model of selling time is collapsing, and the role of lawyers is shifting from "writing themselves" to "correcting AI output and taking responsibility." The speaker discussed survival strategies for law firms, suggesting that firms that quickly introduce AI not only for internal operations but also for "customer touchpoints" such as inquiry response and initial interviews will win.

Session 2: "The First Step to Introducing Generative AI"

Speaker: Ryosuke Sakamoto, Meikou Law Office

Mr. Sakamoto, who practices in local communities, stated that the key to AI utilization is "to prompt in your own words, as if giving instructions to a subordinate lawyer." While emphasizing that delegating entirely is prohibited, he presented concrete measures to start with tasks that have a low psychological barrier, such as summarizing consultation memos and drafting correspondence. He shared a "cheat sheet (template)" that can be used immediately, demonstrating its high replicability.

Session 3: "Building Business Applications to Update Legal Practice"

Speaker: Ryuji Nishiguchi, Kobe Marine General Law Office

Mr. Nishiguchi pointed out the challenge that existing IT products may not fit the actual workflow. He revealed his achievement of creating 17 business tools from scratch in just four months with zero programming knowledge, using Claude as his tool. He demonstrated on the spot applications that automatically extract financial information from PDFs, showing how lawyers themselves can achieve greater practical efficiency through in-house development.

Session 4: "Moving One Step Further: Comprehensive Generative AI Utilization Techniques by Experienced Lawyers"

Speaker: Shunta Fukushima, Legal Access Inc.

Mr. Fukushima, author of "Generative AI Utilization Guide for Legal Affairs," pointed out the limitations of traditional browser-based AI and demonstrated automation using the cutting-edge tool "Claude Code." He presented a process that almost non-stop completes tasks such as reading large volumes of evidence PDFs in litigation preparation, batch renaming, automatic numbering of evidence, and even automatic creation of "explanations of evidence."

Surprise Announcement of Business Partnership in Legal Document Creation Area

Towards the end of the conference, a surprise announcement was made regarding a business partnership between Dai-ichi Hoki, FRAIM, and GVA TECH in the area of legal document creation for lawyers.

This partnership will seamlessly integrate Dai-ichi Hoki's comprehensive legal information database "D1-Law.com Case Law System," FRAIM's document work support Word add-in "Suguraku," and GVA TECH's legal document creation AI "Benpal Document Creation."

This will enable lawyers to complete the entire process, from case law research to AI-assisted drafting of complaints, answers, and preparatory statements, and finalization in Word, without having to switch between multiple tools. This service is scheduled to be offered around autumn of this year.

Participant Survey

It was a very beneficial session for thinking about how to use AI as a local practitioner, how to approach it in the future, and our policy.

It was very educational to see how others are using generative AI, as it's often not visible.

It was very beneficial to hear about actual examples of creating applications using Claude, achievements in increasing sales, and future prospects.

It was very educational to hear specialized talks at each stage, from introduction to application.

I could feel that AI utilization is progressing in the legal industry. It was surprising to see lawyers who are considering ambitious business transformations, such as providing legal services themselves with AI, not just using AI for a part of their legal work.

Future Outlook

GVA TECH, with its purpose of "Eliminating Barriers Between Law and All Activities," and the "Generative AI Practical Community for Lawyers" will continue to explore new ways of practice together with lawyers navigating these rapidly changing times.
